Ok, this is going to be long, bare with me. lol. Ok, I've suffered from major (or physcotic) depression, bipolar, and severe anxiety since i was 7 (now 20). It has caused me so many problems such as peptic ulcers, migranes, constant nausea (I could keep going on too). On top of everything, my husband was injured in iraq this time last year, and I had a son this christmas past, but he died a month later. I've been going out of my mind, and it's really hurting my husband. Worst of all, my want of a child is really hurting our relationship (he's not ready because of the possibility of the next child being born with the same condition as our son). Anyway, the point of all this is I really cant find a medication to help all my mental problems. I was on zantac and wellbutrin, but they both made me very sick. I'd appreciate recommendations from anyone who actually made it through my life story. Thanks!

Ask your doctor to try "Eldepryl" (selegiline is the generic name). It was originally used to treat Parkinson's patients. It helped me.

Also, I added a strong multivitamin (Once Daily Twinlabs; which also helped after about two weeks of daily use); plus Fish Oil (omega3) and especially CoQ10 (400 mg/day). Believe it or not, this also helped even more.

If you're running unexplained fevers, then it may be you have an infection; I did, and went on 500 mg Zithromax daily for several months. That made my headaches AND fevers go away (took several weeks).

Going to bed and waking up early shortly after sunrise every day helped set my body's bio clocks. This also helped.

Your problem is PHYSICAL and chemical. You will find the right 'formula' - but you must try to treat any physical ailments, and find what works for YOUR unique condition.

The key: ALTOGETHER, these things cured me! One thing will not do it. TRY THEM!

I'm bipolar, too. But, I haven't experienced the same loss as you. I am very sorry for you and your husband. The two of you need to be there for each other. I do know someone who lost her baby at nine weeks old. After more than 20 years, it still hurts, but the pain does ease over time. When my depression became unbearable, I got help from doctors and counselors. Noone hear can really reccomend medication for you over the internet. We don't know your medical history or your specific brain chemistry. Medicating a for bipolar disorder is as much of an art as a science, even for doctors. Medication is good for stabilizing mental conditions, but the longest lasting treatment is therapy which will help you become stronger and capable of defeating the anxious and depressing thoughts. Your doctor will also be able to recommend some helpful books to read, too. I do hope things get better for you and your husband.

After my children I suffered from post-partum depression, I tried different anti-depressants, and the only one that worked, is Effexor XR. Works like a charm. Sorry about your loss honey I can't possibly imagine what you and your husband are going thru and feeling. Good luck!

I can't recommend medication because it never helped me. Getting to the root cause might help. I had major recurrent depression for almost five years and the ONLY thing that worked was diligent application of cognitive therapy. Learn more on my "Antidepressant That Works" webpage at:

Hope this helps.

I wish you lots of luck, and will pray for you and your family, but as far as meds, I would not take advice from here, the best place to seek help is your doctor, they know you, your condition, and your situation best to be able to treat you.
