I saw the new Superman movie earlier today.
After pondering his greatness and nobility for a bit, I asked myself that if the world was forced to choose between renouncing their religions, and in turn he would be our hero and help us with all of our problems, or not sacrificing our beliefs and he wouldn't do a damn thing, I came to the instant conclusion that people wouldn't renounce their religions.
It really shows you how BACKWARDS people are.
Hmmm, lets all continue to believe in outdated moral dogma rather than have a real savior of flesh and blood, who's glorious actions and deeds are plainly visible.
Forget about the marvelous prosperity we could attain from one man, and instead focus on ancient doctrine and records that essentially do nothing for us.
What choice would you folks make? Please be PRACTICAL in your reasoning...I know thats a lot to ask but, c'mon, try...please.

Leave it to Christianity to equate "Superman" with the Anti-Christ!

A lot of...
"God is this and God is that."
"God can do this and god can do that."
Ohh, Really??? THEN WHY DOESN"T HE.
Of course there really isn't a hero in a cape, but I swear, on my simple little life, that I'd spill every drop of blood I have to see that there was one.
Somebody who could actually change things for the better instead of some legend of a mad, Jewish Witch-Doctor.
And for dramatic effect:
SUPERMAN
IS
THE FUTURE.

Superman teaches the same things as any religious dogma: be good or die. What I particularly like about Superman is that for all practical purposes he is REAL! You can see him walking, talking, flying, kicking butt, and doing many supernatural things right before your eyes, and there are no BS excuses for the existence of beings who are conveniently invisible. Superman is the future.

Ok, practical: which would work better, relying on one hero to solve all the world's problems, or teaching all the world's people to consider and solve their own to the best of their ability? Because that's the role popular religion and morality has traditionally had in every society. You can either turn everybody loose with no moral scheme or obligations or theoretical framework by which to judge right and wrong, or you can teach them one. You think any number of superheros could save a society without that sort of teaching?
Enduring religion resists the fads that sweep through societies: in ages of decadence the old faiths maintain the value of austerity, when the world is full of stern ascetic passions, religion maintains holidays. Ultimately religion does more good than a Superman ever could. Even the morality that athiests take for granted comes from what religion taught to society at large centuries ago.
And the most important practical point about religion vs. Superman: only one of them is real.

Instead of idolizing pretend movies - if you lived in Israel 2000 years ago and saw a real superman healing and helping and all that you described - it sounds like you may have become a disciple.
There is a bigger story going on (obviously) that lasts thousands of years - the story of humanity, and the Master is as real today as ever.
In the case of calling on Superman for help, he's only one guy. there'd be a good chance he'd never get around to helping you or most anybody because there'd be too many people asking.
This is why the Holy Spirit exists to do just what you said - be there in time of need for assistance, guidance, wisdom, understanding and comfort, in service of YHVH and Yeshua Messiah, and you.
Fun question! Was superman a metaphor intended by its creator?

People wont quit religion until they see that it doesn't do anything for them or when they see that its a fraud its called brainwashing that's what church only wants people to make a profit and they cover that fact by telling y hat if you go to church and if you give them money god will love you and you'll be a better person.Instead of looking and waiting for a imaginary savior we should focus on finding solution to the mess that w have created just look at this world our lives depend on it and everyday we kill it a it more and we do that and yet knowing that, we don't really care, we only care about ourselves we should think a bout all living creatures we are not the only ones in this world you know.We are not the only ones here but we are the only ones tat cause destruction and pain to everything around us and we are supposed to be the most rational creature on earth?.

One super hero? I doubt they'd be enough. Religous doctrines might not be worth a crap, but they effect millions upon millions of people every day. One super hero? How many thousands could he help each day? I highly doubt millions could rely on him alone. Superman couldn't handle everything on this own. Even Jesus as a man would need many many followers to achieve anything. One hero or religion? Religion takes the cake.

God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit are the only true paths there are in life the fact that you would even compare a fictional movie character to the almighty is appaling and illustrates the lack of faith and decency found in the world today, and if your one of these people who needs "physical proof" well just open your eyes (or dont i mean your still breathing right?) he created all you can see its only the devils influence on this tragic world which has led to the corruption and chaos which today lead so many of you to doubt the one who has created you, Im sorry for whatever circumstances in your life have led you to this crisis (or lack) of faith but just rember he still loves you and is always willing to accept you whenever your ready to come to him- God bless

God helps those who help themselves.I don't know which part of the world you are from but here in India we had a great man...his name was M.K. Gandhi.People from different faiths followed him to oppose the british rule in India. He showed them how they could help themselves get rid of the british.Maybe people do fall in line when confronted with such greatness and nobility. But the poor guy got shot at the end by another chap who wouldn't have been able to match Gandhi's thinking leave alone his achievements in 10 lifetimes.

You are the exact type of person the AC is looking for. Let's all just follow the guy doing signs and wonders, not even thinking about the fact that he's a liar in sheeps clothing. And that he will be thrown into the firey pit by the true Hero, who gave His life to save yours.

This sounds all to familiar. I may not be real religious but i will never renounce god. What you are talking about sounds like the coming of the Anti Christ.

Well I don't have a religion but If I did, I would definitely get rid of it for Superman! Superman would never die on a cross or let his son die on a cross.
This immaginary Superman does more for people everyday than any existing "god".
