wash him with tea tree oil shampoo for dogs. This will not only remove the smell, but it will clean him thoroughly without harming his skin.

Yes,possum reeks!! & ***NO*** tomatoes DON'T work on skunk spray!
DOES NOT WORK!!! Been telling people that for YEARS.The peroxide/baking soda/detergent recipe does.
We've taken DOZENS of possum w/the dogs just this season. HUNDREDS over the years. Possum musk is NOTHING like skunk! If it bothers you(it WILL fade w/in hours)just a plain bath will do fine.

Tomato juice is what we use for skunk smells on dogs. I've not heard of possum. Unless it was decaying in the road and your dog rolled in it.

Possum smell? If it's skunk smell, use tomato juice... I guess I've never sniffed a possum.... Marsupials don't have scent glands, do they? Anyone?

Assissi is a homeopathic grooming spray. It contains lavender. This should work and your dog will love having you massage it into his coat and skin.
It is available on the net but I am not sure of the address.
