I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE OCCASIONAL TYPO! THIS IS IN REGARDS TO REPEAT OFFENDERS OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. If you cannot spell, it is hard for others to accept that anything you say may be true or valid. I'm not asking to start a war; I'm trying to bridge the gap between the literate and non-literate, and to help the latter see their ineptitude so that they may improve upon it. Millions laughing at you because of illiteracy is not a laughing matter, and there are groups that can help you in every community. Why not invest in improving your literacy, so that others can take you seriously?

As a Bad speller, It is not a surpised that people are rude.
But what you have to understand is that it is not as easy for some as it is for others to spell.
The people that think that people that cant spell seem more stupid to me.
We know that our spelling is not good, and for some there is nothing that they can do about it. but we dont need it pointed out to use, That is just rude.
If you cant read the quistion, dont answer it, it if is spelt wrong, but you know what the person is saying, just look past the spelling.
It not good to put people down, think how you would feel.

people learn in different ways a smart person like u i am surprised you dont know that, people are 1. Verbal/linguistic 2. Mathematics /logical 3. Visual/spatial 4. Musical/rhymical 5.Bodily/kineshetic 6. Naturalist 7. Interpersonal 8. intrpersonal 9. existential get off ur high horse my god a deaf person may not hear but they may be smart we all have wonderful gifts to bring to live a whole

If someone is able to communicate on this message board, then they are not illiterate. If you are truly concerned about this growing problem in the country, then perhaps you could volunteer at your local library in their literacy program. As you suggest: invest in literacy.
There is no correlation between someone's intelligence and their ability to spell, incidentally. That is a false conception.

Americans are the reason why Microsoft put spellcheck into Word...those who speak Portuguese, Spanish, Italian have no problems with their language since...in contrast with English...it is written as it sounds...so that means MOST Americans have spelling issues...
