I'm involved in a study on Lamictil and Depakote. It seems to be working...but I think Prozac was the best for me. I agree that you also need another form of help, like therapy, whether it be traditional or holistic. Just trying to come to terms with why one is depressed isn't always the easiest thing to do, meds can help one reach a neutral place where they can identify why they feel certain ways...and depression has many other disguises and roots. The best thing is too get help, fast, and awareness is key. Thanks for asking.

When I was manic-depressive, I tried all the anti-depression drugs.
None of them worked. Prozac made me feel worse. The only thing that helped was coming to terms with what made me depressed, and I worked through it on my own. It took eight years, but I'm depress-free now.

I am on prozac as well have been on it for a week now. I take it for OCD and so far the bad thoughts that plauge many of us with OCD have dimished. I will start therapy later this month but so far even without the full of effect of this drug ,I like that it has relieved the thoughts that I tried to control on my own for years.

I am and this is the second time in my 35 years. I am not what I would say "controlled" yet because I still flip out sometimes. I do wish I wasn't on anything, but nothing else seems to work. Watch out for any anti-depressant because strangely enough sometimes they can make you suicidal! Isn't that ironic. Good luck, and take comfort in knowing you are certainly NOT alone!

I've been on Zoloft for a week now of 25 mg. On Saturday,I started taking 50 mg. Besides a few of the side effects, it seems to be working. I was having panic attacks and he gave me Zanax for a back-up med. In a month I should know the full affect.

I've been taking Celexa since early April...it works well on my irritability issues but it's causing less than desirable side effects elsewhere. I think I'm going to ask my doctor to have Wellbutrin added in, I've heard it helps cancel out the bad side effects from other SSRI's.

I take the 180 mg effexor. it's very effective and w/o it I would be a train-wreck. I tried Paxil but it made my depression worse.
