I respect the European Jews as the otherwise, yet I won't know why cleaning dishes and obstaining from swimming in the nearly purely pedantic is anything but unto vanity -- that is of course if it is done with so much as a touch of ignorant pride.
The Irish at a time (I am not Irish) believed on Morning Star and I'll eat my Tobacco if it takes the "Jews" longer than One Thousand years to put away the old man and put on the New Man... If you are a of Israel be known that that you disbelieve thine seed in Time shall be the last fruit (chronologically) of Christ, The Son of God...

Um... a little difficult to understand, but I think I get the gist of your message: why are the Ashkenazi Jews so strict in their laws of conduct?

Well, Judaism (and by extension, the Jewish thought-process) is rooted in the ANE, where communal living and ritual purity was very important.

Something was judged as good or bad depending on whether or not it was beneficial to the entire community. The Jews were not individualistic in their ideology, and their ideas were quite different from modern, creampuff America.

As for the ritual purity laws, this is left over from the ritual purity laws of their ancestors. You see, in the ANE, many tribes/cultures had rules as to what was acceptable for someone to do and what was deemed unacceptable for one to do. This thought-process was called "ritual purity" and it plays a key role in understanding much of the Bible. The ancients needed a way to keep the community organized, and as such, looked to God for guidance. God gave them rules to follow, in order to give them a sense of morals and values. These rules were laid out in the Torah, mostly in the Pentateuch.
