I have my long lost brothers soc.sec.#, b-day, age, Is there anything out there 100% free i can use to find hi
I have used google time and time again, only to be taken to sites with promises of being able to find my brother IF I pay them. I have his soc.sec.# and some details. I have no idea where he lives other than in Northern Calif. I do not know of his last address or phone. But I do know he is divorced and his ex-wifes first name. (I don't know her maiden name.) I need some kind of search with immediate results and that is 100% free, no strings attached. Is there anything out there that can help me locate him? FOR FREE!!?

The Social Security Administration will forward a letter to him for free. He may not answer it and the last address they have for him may be wrong. Read more:

If you have a cell phone or free long distance you can start of with all the City Hall in Northern California. It will take time but at least it is free. Also you try to google some non profit organization in those area and see if you can find some Private Eyes that search for people probono or just maybe if they don't , plead your case and maybe they will have a heart to help you .

Totally free? No strings attached? That's a tough one. I'm not aware of anyplace on the Web that will give you what you are looking for with complete certainty. You can try Switchboard.com, but if he has an unpublished phone number he won't be listed there. With the information you have you may want to search the public records on the Web. However, there is a cost associated with doing a search....about $39. You have to understand that there are costs in making available records that you are looking for and no one is going to absorb those costs. Good luck in your search.

I can't guarantee results but I would go to Rootsweb.com and click on message boards for his last name and also for CA. I would post a message asking for info. Or post that you would like to find out hints on how to get this info. Do not post his SS# unless he is deceased. You can also post on the mailing lists. It works better if you know the city and county.
They also have message boards for adoption questions/queries which isn't your case but may be able to give you some leads.
Another source is Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness or www. then raogk.com
All of the above are free but usually done for deceased relatives.

You could try whitepages.com--it's free, but if he has an unlisted phone number, it won't be able to tell you where he is.
