What are some options for real food for a baby 22 Months old?

2006-07-01 20:41:52 · 16 answers · asked by Huh? 1 in Pregnancy & Parenting Toddler & Preschooler

He does not fancy his mashed baby food anymore, and has lost his appetite. This is specially on weekends when we are at home with him.

He likess to sit with us at the table when we eat, but just plays with the food.

He loves yoghurt and wants it with every meal. Is there any food value in yoghurt?

It depends on the baby and how many teeth they have and how they handle food. At this age a baby should be able to eat small pieces of fruits and vegtables, meat, noodles etc . A bowl of cereal. Almost anything an adult eats if it isn't hard to chew and it can safely be cut or chopped up in to small pieces. Don't give the child anything sharp to eat, like a very dry cracker, but can give the child crackers that soften easy in the mouth. A child can have a sandwich cut in very small pieces. Check out a book on diet for toddlers at your favorite book store or library.

At this age your child can pretty much eat whatever you eat. With the exeption of spicy foods, most parents don't want the child to have spicy foods. Yogurt is just fine for them.....it provides them with a dairy serving, just don't let you baby eat it all day. 1 or 2 cups of yogurt will be fine. Your child can eat pizza, chicken nuggets, cheeseburgers, sandwiches(my child loves peanut butter and grilled cheese), fries, mac & cheese, spaghetti, etc......My little boy loves chinese food and has been eating it since he was 1. So basically what ever you cook for the rest of your family allow your child to eat some. Breakfast is the same, your child can eat eggs, pancakes, waffles, sausage, etc....

You may find you are cooking several things until you figure out what your child likes. Still try to inforce the veggies and fruits. Remember to go easy on the greasy foods as it may upset your child's stomach.

Have fun and happy eating

at 22 months they r not a baby anymore and should be basically having what u have, cereal and fruit and toast for breakky, sandwhiches and things for lunch (meat pies sausage rolls, soup, rice anything) meat and veg for dinner, not pureed but as u have them just pre cut theirs into bite size. they can have yoghurt still but not all the food they have should be baby food/pureed. they need lots of finger food, from about 10 months really, and by 12 months they should be eating smaller versions of what u eat. hope this helps.

He's almost 2..he's a toddler, not a baby and he can eat anything you do. Just cut it into smaller pieces. He's way too old for baby food. Yogurt is great! Just get the natural yogurts. The kiddie ones are loaded with artificial stuff and too much sugar,

Anything. Try different foods, but as long as it isn't a choking hazard--just cut things up into small pieces if they are hard (like carrots or apples) or firm (like whole grapes), or spread sticky things (like peanut butter) thinly on a cracker or slice of bread. If you have extreme food allergies in the family, or if your baby has allergies, the above may *not* apply to you; otherwise, it's fine.

Rice, mashed potatoes, cut up tender pieces of beef, chicken etc. A child this age can eat anything.

Pretty much anything that you eat...

make sure that your child has about five serves of fresh fruit and vegetables, limit sugar and salt and stick to the basics and stay away from processed food...

They can eat pretty much anything, just cut it into smaller pieces. DOn't give them too much sugar though, but otherwise can eat anything. (My nephew has been since he was 18 months old and is very healthy).
