I have been doing some reading about holidays and traditions that most people accept as fact today in our culture (Christmas, Easter, etc). I came across an organization started in 1995 called the United Church of God. They do not celebrate holidays, but celebrate Passover, and some of the festivals of the Old Testament. They believe in Christ and that he is our Saviour, etc. Anyone know much about this denomination? It seems almost like a Seven Day Adventist. I am curious because the information they provided was very interesting and did in fact prove (with encyclopedias- I did my own research) that holidays are pagan.

also check out the Restored Church of God..
http://www.thercg.org/home.html if your looking for sound doctrine...its amazing how many people are deceived into thinking the Sabbath day is on old testament "ritual" which was "nailed" to the cross...I am neither an SDA nor a Jew, but I keep ALL the 10 commandments......

I've only heard bad things about the United Church of God. Before I knew anything about it, I looked into it, and within 10 minuites of reading their material I could tell something was not right.
I have read some of their literature and do not agree with it at all.
The United Church of God is also known as Armstrongism. The teachings seem very far off from biblical teachings of Jesus, and more focused on Armstrong's own created religion.

I know very little about this group (didn't realize they were similar to Adventists-thanks!).
Yes, most holidays are mottled pagan festivals.
However, one thing this group says that I can't wrap my head around is that the Sabbath is Saturday (I agree with that) but that everyone not going to church on Saturday (most of us go Sunday) is going to hell. They say since we are not "keeping the Sabbath holy" as instructed by G-d, we're going to hell. I just don't agree with that.

A really cool religion that I'd love to become a part of is Messianic Judaism. I mean, come on! Jews who are Christians?!?!? How much more favored by G-d could you be!!!

yep, most holidays were taken over from the pagans, but seriously, do you think you will go to hell for eating turkey in November?
