Go to microsoft.com and download the Genuine Advantage Tool. It will check for you.

Or just try Automatic Updates. If they work, your version is genuine. If they don't, it probably isn't (although of course there might be other reasons, like you having turned them off).

the install disk has a halo -graphic on it and if you view it right it will look like the true windows symbol DO NOT! ACTIVATE IT!! GET RID OF IT. buy the real thing as I said above look at the disk if you see the halo-gram of windows that changes color when you tilt the CD in directions and that is the real thing if it is not there it is not real trash it!! cause the link below is true and they will take your butt to Jail if your caught!

if u cant find a link just try to install anything from microsoft and it will prompt you then that its going to check out your xp version
