Hey buddy, helper is actually right.
re-install the whole thing, and then turn off AUTOMATIC updates, and ignore all warnings.
Hey if you want updates even sp2 it's there in the net at some other sites : www.softwarepatch.com/windows/index.html...this is a really really good and complete site of all updates. No need to go 2 windows updates. Have fun...
But if you bought it from a genuine dealer ,..., sue his ***.

The usual response is to cry. This may be hard to deal with, but if the message gives you a phone number to contact the Microsoft registration department, that would be your only hope.
This is assuming that the Windows you are using either came with your computer when it was new, or you purchased a CD from a local store (online vendors MAY sell pirated copies) and used that to install. Otherwise your Windows may actually be not legitimate.

Ignore it. Restart your machine, repeat your steps. Microsoft is not 100% reliable in telling the difference between genuine and pirated.
If you know you've bought XP from a reputable seller, don't worry.

Go to microsoft.com and download the Genuine Advantage Tool.
It should be able to tell you, I'm thinking this might be a viral thing on Yahoo Answers, since this is the forth question of this type I've seen tonight.
