Freedom (in so many aspects). Speech, religion, etc. It's easier to be proud of this freedom that the U.S. promotes after witnessing the complete opposite of this elsewhere. For example, I was in Saudi Arabia last summer and as an American, I felt frustrated with the conservative ideology over there in everything. Women cover their bodies in all black, speaking against the government is not without great penalties, among other things. I really value our freedom, so that's why it's also frustrating to see it being taken away through the Patriot Acts.

As an American, I can say "America sucks" and not get in trouble or thrown in prison without a trial. In fact, other Americans would correctly respond: "If it's so bad, then do something about it." That's what makes me proud to be an American. I don't think that we're the best people around...or rather, I don't think we're the ONLY best people around, but we are among the very few who will actually work for changes and make those changes happen. We can make changes--sometimes after decades, if not centuries of bickering--but changes always come: some more bloody than others, and some are definitely bad...but American destiny is in the hands of the American people, regardless of what various presidents or corporate entities may want us to think. If the freedom of self-determination is nothing to be proud of, then the world is too harsh a place for human life.

We are so giving. We even help our enemies when disaster strikes. We are a nation of big hearted people...even though it comes off as foolish to some nations that are in my eyes, evil in nature. And many of the countries we help out, stab us in the back regularly, it doesnt seem to faze us at all.
Normally I am against pride in all forms. I think pride is the first step in the process of becoming ethno-centric, and should be avoided. But I am proud of the great generosity of America.

Because its the usa is the best damn country in the world. Many people flock to the usa. What i hate is when immagrants come over here live here, work here, make a life here and then have the gull to say america sucks. I find that so wrong, obviously your country sucked or you wouldn't be here. I think because many american peoples can come together when the important things happen like 9/11 people came together and loved one another.

-Being able to make more money in an hour on minimum wage than other people make in a month.
-Having a military strong enough to invade a country that never attacked us, just so we can get oil, and maintain a presence there despite overwhelming opposition from people at home and from terrorists on site.
-Knowing that my president will be out of office in 2 years and 7 months
-Being able to buy a Nintendo Wii and a Xbox 360 here for the price of one PS3
-Being able to mortgage my house should I want to buy a PS3

I am proud of America for their religious freedom, even though I grew up in Japan. Japan has the best food, healthiest lifestyle, and wonderful people. I like both countries and couldn't choose one over the other. Both have their good points.

The courage of SOME of the CONSERVATIVE side of the house to stand up for freedom and against terrorist morons. We should NOT be handcuffing them either.
