Bipolar disorder is a chemical imbalance of the brain that causes what some people might term "normal" personality traits into more extreme cases. Everyone has personality traits, but a bipolar person's are exaggerated in either phase. Some are very creative in a manic phase (Edgar Allen Poe, Lord Byron e.g.) and are interesting to talk to because they can be humorous or see things differently than they might other times. Of course, often times after rereading what they've written you realize it's gibberish.

In a depressed phase it may not be all talk of suicide, doom-and-gloom. They may have a more philosophical or spiritual bent at that time.

Usually bipolars are very intelligent people and are well-read on a variety of subjects. They are interesting as long as you have some place to be alone when they get to be too much. I guarantee they will keep you on your toes.

I think you need to distinguish between Persnality traits and actual Bi Polar (manic Depressive Psychosis) Disorder.
BPD is normally very treatable illness done with Medications such as Lithium Carbonate and Sodium Valproate (Epilim)
Mood is obviously affected and swings between Mania and Depression have needed to be present though most afflicted usually are predominately one or the other. Mania the more interesting for them as they feel terrific though judgement and inhibitions severely impaired.

No, not really. What makes a person interesting to you is whether or not you are interesting. I happen to love Seinfeld, and I am a pretty damn interesting person, I know a really dull person who hates Seinfeld...go figure...oh, did I mention...I am bi-polar.

Not necessarily "More" interesting...I'm dating a gorgeous gal who has Bipolar & she's fantastic! ( Gets a tad moody if she's forgotten to take her pills, but otherwise she's a doll! )
