Where I live there is a daycare where you can send children on a daily basis, like if you are sick, you can send the child there so you can get some rest. If you don't have that choice, you can always set the child up with a coloring book and the tv. If you are well enough to sit up and entertain the child, then color together, or play something quiet. If the child is too young to sit quietly, or is still a baby, try to see if you can get a sitter.

If the child isn't sick, have them help you out by bringing you things while you rest. You could spend some quality time watching cartoons. Get some snacks, work on some simple crafts(coloring, Legos, Play Doh) , just make a day of it. Low energy activities. The child will be glad to spend time with you, and you will get to stay in bed the whole day. Explain to them how you are feeling, and if the child has been sick, remind them how they felt so they can relate to you better.

I had this a few times when my little one was in his threes and fours...........really hard when you are so sick with the flu or something and can't move. I saved a special little box of toys and videos, coloring books, e tc. Kept it way up in my closet. If I got that sick................he would lay on the bed with me and couldn't get down without asking. While o n the bed he would be playing with the toys and watching the videos that I had gotten. Helped me not too worry and get some sleep in between interruptions.

Well, it depends on the age of the child, I guess. If your kid is young, it's probably best to call someone and ask them to help. If the child is younger (I'd guess five or older), settle yourself on the couch and tell them to stay in sight.

Set them up with toys and tv. (I am not a proponent of doing this under normal circumstances) Simply give them things to keep them occupied.

If this dosn't work then you would be supprised how occupied they are if you simply superglue a hand to the coffie table. (Just kidding)
