The relationship between alcohol consumption and health has been the subject of formal scientific research since at least 1926, when Dr. Raymond Pearl published his book, Alcohol and Longevity, in which he reported his finding that drinking alcohol in moderation was associated with greater longevity than either abstaining or drinking heavily.[1] Subsequently, various studies have examined the health effects of different degrees of alcoholic beverage consumption (Blackwelder et al., Ellison, Hennekens, Rimm et al., Rogers, Trevisan et al.). While it is widely recognized that alcoholism has negative health effects, moderate consumption, frequently defined as the consumption of 1-4 alcoholic drinks in a day (depending on the age and gender of the subjects) has been found in some research to have a positive effect on longevity (Camargo et al., Yuan et al., Coate, Doll & Peto, Klatsky). See Alcoholic beverages — recommended maximum intake for a list of governments' guidances on alcohol intake which, for a man, range from two to six drinks per day........

Yes. In moderation wine is a healer however hard alcohol is poison, dehydrates the body, causes hangovers in the morning, can lead to black-outs, and it tends to have some addiction like qualities. (that gets nasty if it goes too far)
It had been 1 year since I took a drink and easily I was spending $10/day. So I have saved over $3,500.00, probably a lot more.
Alcohol promotes cigarette smoking with me too. I quite those last Oct and I can now add, at $6/day average, another $1400.00.
So $5K bought me a newer car. Wa-hoo.
God Bless

Studies have shown that alcohol lowers your risk of heat disease, diabetes, bone loss and mental decline significantly.
A con to alcohol is that it is a depressant and, when too much is ingested, it causes the central nervous system to shut down which is why many cease to breath and experience apnea and cardiac arrest when they have "alcohol poisioning." Also, excess drinking can cause you to gain weight as some alcoholic drinks are high in calories.
Chronic alcohol ingestion leads to cirrhosis of the liver which, if drinking alcohol ceases, can regenerate and function normally but can also function with some dissability.

Drinking alcohol can always be harmful. Cost wise, I've known many people who have spent their entire paycheck on booze. Especially now days when you go into a bar and a beer is $5.00 a pop. You do the math.

Alcohol is harmful -- it's a poison. The studies that show alcohol being effective in lengthening lifespan have been refuted by more recent studies.
The big danger is that some people become alcoholics after they start to drink.

A small amount like 1 glass of red wine before bed everyday is good. Once awhile alot its ok. But not everyday. It will burnt your liver.
For those drinkers out there... your blood type might not be O, O+, A, B...ect... It might be vodka? Chivas? Martell? Gin? Rum? Go for a blood test... Incase u need "blood", the doctors will know what to do in future...

Alcohol really has some good benefits to our body. But we can only take as much. Too much alcohol is bad for our liver and it dehydrates us.

It might be harmful to drink large quantity's of any spirit, but even in the largest amount it's not as expensive or illegal as the same amounts of drugs. So here's to being legal. No matter how plastered.
