My friend uses henna and she finds it from India. She uses it all the time, and even has tattoos with it on her hands and stuff. It's really cool, but I bet you no one has it. My friend also says that henna is really painful and she had a hard time getting it on [for tattoos and her hair]. It comes out reallly cool, but I doubt anyone here would sell it...
Tell your mom and can find any and it's not fair. Help her with lots of chores, and she'll give in, trust me. You just have to perservere and keep on telling her much you would just like to dye your hair. Also tell her that you WOULD dye it henna, but you can't find it anywhere. If she argues, politely ask her if she can find any for her daughter. That would cross her mind sometime, lol.

P.S. && if your mom seriously doesn't want you too, just hold on and wait. You'll be a grown up one day, you'll see, lol, but I'm teen myself so I'm stupid to say that. I'm not always a patient person neither, but my mom is my mom. Gotta obey her rules til college is here. I can also understand if your mom doesn't want you to dye your hair >>> cuz she hates to see the color hair she or your dad had given you be completely washed out in like 30 minutes with another color. Trust me, I guess parents have it bad too if you think on both sides of the box.

If your mom is giving you food, shelter, clothing and education, she has a right to tell you not to dye your hair. Under any circumstance, she has a right for you to be honest and not do something sneaky. Wait till you're self sufficient before you make that sort of decision for yourself. Incidentally, permanant hair dye based on coal dyes causes cancer. Henna is safer,

You make a deal with her... #1 make a deal about your school and grades - if you pass a class or earn a GPA she lets you....
AND you make a deal about what type of dye - start off with dyes that wash out the same day or within a week... that way if she really doesn't like it then it's not a big deal... BUT maybe she'll realize it's not a big deal and let you do something more perm.

Larger Health food stores / supermarkets also carry henna dyes. Try looking there if you have one in your town. Some smaller stores may have a limited stock.

I believe that she is referring to a level 1 dye that's not permanent. I'm not sure how you can convince her. You see, my daughter is still trying to convince me, but I do so love her current color and hair texture that I'd hate to see it ruin by dying it. The process will dry your hair.

Henna is an Indian dye I think. My mum uses it. It is a dark red/brown colour.
Ask at any good pharmacy.

My Mom would let me dye my hair purple w/ pink polka dots. Not that I would choose those colors but I haven't lived under her roof in 23 years.
