Ummm...do you think you're overweight at 5'8"/140lbs?!?!?!
What do you want your body to look like? Sunk-in chest? Flat butt?
I bet you look FANTASTIC! already!!
If you feel uncomfortable with your weight, I recommend some good exercising-alternate betw. walking every other day and doing some mild resistance/weight training the other days. You'll firm up, turn any flab (I doubt you have!) into muscle, and feel great about yourself.
You may not lose any pounds (as the muscle you develop is denser than fat) but you'll be proud of yourself and your clothes will fit better!

One should never lose more than 1# per week, because if you do, you are affecting all your body systems and your heart won't like you for it. Your heart is greatly affected by a fast weight loss, and I've always lived by the adage that the first thing to go on a diet is your temper. No matter what is happening August 12, you won't feel like, nor look like enjoying it if you go on a crash diet. And the people will wonder what happened to the person they invited in the first place. Remember you are more than a size; you are a person with a heart and an attitude and that's why your friends like you.

Yes it is quite possible with a little effort.......
But first, What is your age???
Why so a hurry.
You can lose the desired weight or even more.
Any way follow some tips to work for entire of your life.
Good luck.
Generally you gain weight because of fats deposits, just dissolve them. How?
People go for losing weight by pills or starving.
Pills do not act effectively and for longer durations. Pills have many side effects for your health.
Starving weakens you and your defense system is also weakened. This makes you less resistant against infactions and other diseases.
The best way is to lose weight by change of diet and your physical activities.
1. Reduce or stop to take oils and fats.
2. Stop taking sugar and glucose. (Mainly tea, coffee & cold drinks.
3. Stop taking potato, rice.
4. Reduce wheat and corn as much as possible.
Take vegitables, boiled meat, fruits (even sweet).
And at the top of all:
Play physical games or walk, as per requirment of your age at least 40 to 60 minutes twice a day.
You will start losing weight to the extent of daily difference.

Absolutely! Give up just one thing and lose the weight in that amont of time! For instance, don't drink sodas at all or better still, give up the bad carbs (sugar & white flour) and the lbs will go quickly! However, it seems to me you're just right, and tall enough to carry that 140 lbs, no problem!

That's about 6 weeks. Yes, you could do it, though it's bordering on excessive. 10 lbs. is a realistic weight loss for 8 to 10 weeks. However, depending on your gender and current weight and height, 10 lbs. might be safely lost in 6 weeks. (e.g. the larger you are, the more weight you can and will lose immediately).

Sure. Just remember to lose weight in moderation. Maybe two pounds a week. If you loose the weight too fast, chances are the weight will come back.
