Unfortunately, you get what you pay for, and don't think your guests won't notice... Costco is your best bet.

Any wine shop will give you case deals. Just go ask them. For a wedding of 50 people... Well, I don't know about the food, but a bottle of wine gives about four good glasses, so if you figure two glasses a person, that's 25 bottles? Two cases, in other words, if they're 12 bottle cases.

Go to a local wine shop, because a small business will have the authority to give you a deal that a chain like Costco might not (oh, that's not our policy, I have to ask my manager, etc) and they'll be much more knowledgable on which wines will give you good quality for your money. They can all do case orders, and if you give notice, can get in whatever you want.

i suggest winco for the meat, cheese and veggies. for 50 people i believe you'll need about 3 of each tray. doublecheck with the store. sam's club and costco usually have them, too.

the longer the party--the more you'll need. if it's just for a few hours, you can get away with 1 glass per person. you can also add sodas to the menu--popular with the kids and non-drinkers. it will also give the appearance of having more food.

you may be better off buying a fun new wine at a grocery store ($4-$8/bottle) than doing the bulk thing. pick out a few wines that are on sale, sample with friends, and go back for the best one (make sure you come back during the sale!). if the wine appears cheap--make your own label, featuring a picture of the bride and groom! :)

shop around at local bakeries or restaurants for bread products. you'll probably get a better-tasting bun/croissant at a restaurant!

congrats and best of wishes!

Local wine shops will give you price breaks on cases of wine and champagne. Local beer stores or liquor stores will do the same on the other alcohol. As for the food, I would check around with local shops as well. If you are buying in bulk they will generally give you a price break.
