If you follow your heart for a good reason then sure who knows the wrong path might just turn out to be the right path. If this is about a companion who isnt loyal, disrespectful or hurting you in some kind of way then no it isnt the best thing for you to do because JERKS never change their ways well they do it differently but they never completely stop being JERKS

It's hard to answer such a non-specific question, but if your intuition (or something else) is telling you that a path is wrong, and your intuition (or whatever else) has been good in the past, you should listen to it and avoid the "wrong path". "Following your heart" on the "wrong path" usually just leads to sorrow and regret.
No matter what you do, don't be surprised if in a few years (or sooner) you find yourself wondering how you ever could have felt the way you do now. It might be hard to believe now, but it often happens.

If you know its the wrong path, why do it? It seems like, by asking if it's best to follow your heart, you're looking for an excuse to do something you know is wrong. No, it's not best to follow your heart.

How about riding the donkey looking for a horse. That is follow your heart until the prince in your lovely head shows up.

No, that would make "following my heart" such an easy excuse... Your common sense and intelligence is what you should follow, no matter what the issue. I could "follow my heart" and date my ex-girlfriend, but since experience tells me she is a beeeeeooooottttccchh and coommon sence tells me she has been so many times that she will still be one if I go back, I stay away.

No. That would not be the right thing to do. You are following your head not your heart if you know this is wrong.

it depends what you consider to be a "wrong" path. Follow your heart if it's the most important thing for you to do, despite the consequences. If you prefer NOT to accept the consequences for follwoing your heart, then perhaps you shouldnt. It boils down to what is most important to you in the end.

Depends on which wrong path you are talking about. If it is love follow your heart.

It depends on what you want. If you know its disaster, but want that, go ahead. Otherwise, distract yourself. There may be other things that your heart enjoys (football, friends, hobby? or whatever) Keep yourself busy enough that you don't let your heart step in where your mind fears to tread.
Good Luck!

Yes, it would. Sometime listen to your heart can help choose the right way, when you feel as something is wrong.
