It's the same concept with people being racist or ignorant. People just have to get out of their box and start thinking...

I don't listen to rap music anymore, but I don't think all rap is negative either. Its been almost 10 yrs. I stopped listening to it when it transformed to 'booty this, booty that', 'take it off, shake it ,pop it drop it', or was constantly talking about some new brand of tennis shoes or name brand liquor. I also hate the rap that uses the N-word. When I did listen to rap it was semi political, like the Fugees, Tribe called Quest, don't remember the rest but it was music that had more of a meaning. Most rap now is just a competition of how many different ways people rap about sex or materialization. Same song, different beat. Also, what happened to rappers voices? I don't know what it is, but most rappers voices today are so gruff and growly its like they have phlegm in their mouth. And its become more popular to sound as uneducated as possible. I use slang, and some of my family speak with a country accent, but lots of these artist use ebonics to the extreme. It sounds more ignorant than artistic. I do believe there are positivie rappers out there though, but I've been completely turned off from rap altogether. I've "graduated" to jazz and classic r&b, stuff I can play around my young son.

Because its the only rap music they know as it is the most popular. I do agree that most of that sort of rap is crap. I only listen to non-secular music (music about Jesus and whatnot) and rap is still my favorite genre along with R&B. There are many positive rappers: Lecrae, DA T.R.U.T.H., Flame, the 116 Clique, Cross Movement, KJ-52, Dj Maj, and so on. I pray for the day when rappers like these outsell and are more popular than the most famous rappers today, I would say congratulations.

Because the majority of rap is controlled by a small number of record labels. They promote the negative stuff over the positive. If you don't listen to rap, all you're gonna know about are things that are bombarded all over the media like Eminem, 50 Cent and Snoop.

its called "guilkty bu association". basically it means that since a few rap artists are bad people...and that rap is associated with black peopel who most think are bad...then all rappers must be bad.

i dont listen to rap and even i can see that. its crap. its a bad wrap given to rappers.

all i can say is that if youre a rapper you need to distance yourself from the bad seeds and talk (wrether normally or in youe music) about what you think.

guilty by association puts all people in the same hole...its stupid. people should know better.

lots of the rap/hip hop out on the instantaneous is unfavorable and has unfavorable impacts on the folk who pay interest to it, user-friendly as that. Ofcourse there are rappers available that attempt to portray an excellent message, yet regrettably they are being outshadowed. What do maximum folk imagine of even as they imagine of rap? probable violence, guns, slang, the ghetto etc....I dont respect rap music in any respect.

I don't like the genre in general because much of it sounds the same to me. There are some rap/hip-hop tracks that I love. But, it has to do with creativity and sound rather than the message.

Most people don't understand that rap music is about where a person comes from. It's a musical biography if you will.
If more people listened to the lyrics, they would see this is true.
Except where they degrade women in their lyrics.

More than ninety percent of it is NEGATIVE.....that's more than a MAJORITY where I come from.
It's all immature, shallow, crude, repetitious, and trite!!!!
It's all done to a primative, basic, rudementary beat.....all they need are campfires and spears to dance around with it!
