In the Bible, speaking in tongues is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It was used extensively in the early church as a tool of evangelism.
I believe that people still speak in tongues--different languages than their own--today especially in cultures that have not heard about God. Speaking in tongues is also used as a way to communicate directly with God. Not all Christians have this gift, however, but they are given one or more of the other gifts of the Spirit including: evangelism, prophecy, helps, healing, giving and discernment.

actually I don't know what it truely is today. I think today it is probably demons speaking through us or something like that.
See, according to the Bible the apostles spoke in tongues. The difference is between then and now is easy. According to the Bible thier were people outside and they asked how can we all understand what they are saying in our own language. Now I've been to many of these churches and have seen a lot of people who supposedly speek in tongues, but I can not understand anything there are saying. So it is NOT the same as the tongues that are spoke of in the Bible.
Do, I believe in it, yes. I have seen many people that I know speak in this wierd language.

Sure I believe that. I knew someone in my early life that spoke many tongues (languages). She took a job with the United Nations as an interpreter and possible still there.
The Bible speaks of tongues as well. And again they are different languages.
One of the gifts that God's Holy Spirit gives is the gift of speaking in tongues. Again these are languages.
Its all in the volume of the Book.
In His Service.

Speaking in tongues was a gift of Holy Spirit granted to the apostles during the first century. The purpose was so they could talk to different people about Jesus and Gods Kingdom using different languages.
Do people speak in tongues today as they did the first century apostles? NO!! Today the gibberish spoken by those people professing to be assisted by Holy Spirit is unintelligible, hence they are not communicating the message as taught by Jesus and of Gods Kingdom.

NO. If you return to the Book of Acts where on the Day of Pentecosts they FIRST started speaking in tongues, you'll read that they were actually speaking "foreign languages." People in the room were remarking, "listen they're speaking my language, I can understand them" when for the FIRST FIFTY DAYS (which is what Pentecost means) the only ones allowed to become Christians were Jews. On the day of Pentecost, God opened up Christianity TO ALL MANKIND, AND WHAT BETTER WAY TO DO THIS THAN GIVE LANGUAGE SKILLS TO SPREAD HIS WORD. Now that people all over the world know christianity there is no longer a reason for the Holy Spirit to descend and give the gift of tongues. READ IT FOR YOURSELF.

Speaking in Tongues is actually a gift that is mentioned in the book of Acts in the Bible. Speaking in Tongues is all about praising GOD. Sometimes our earthly (human) mouths cannot praise GOD enough with our own words.
Yes, I believe it, I have received this gift at a Camp Meeting many years ago. My heart was so overwhelmed and then the Holy Spirit took over. This is what the gift is-a gift of the Holy Spirit.

Originally, to speak in tongues meant that several people who spoke different languages from each other, would be filled with the Holy Spirit. This would then enable them to talk to one another and understand what everyone around them was saying, hence the term, "speak in tongues". Remember, in the beginning, after the fall of man, God split up the people and mixed up the languages. Allowing them to speak in tongues would essentially allow them to discuss and grow in their faith. I don't really believe some of the nonsense today with people speaking in tongues at church when no one else can understand what they are saying, because the whole concept of speaking in tongues was to understand everyone around you.

In Acts 2 there is the account of people speaking with tongues and "every man heard them speak in his own language." Speaking in tongues is basically talking in a foreign language. I believe the ultimate purpose of this spiritual gift is for people to hear the gospel in their own language.

I believe speaking in tongues is a known earthly language.
Gibber jabber does not cut it. There was a time in old testement times we all spoke the same. GOD saw that we were up to no good and divided us up and twisted our tongues. That is where
all languages came from. So, when GOD has a message to
reveal to someone of different language, the tongues took place.
