Nowadays, that’s a stereotype. North America was founded by British, who usually were white people. Slavery brought black people from Africa. After the independence, a lot of émigrés from all over the world fled to U.S.A., due to its freedom and working opportunities. That's still happening at the moment.

Obviously you have never been to America and have not met many Americans, and apparently, haven't even seen American films. So why are you asking a question based on an assumption about a people about whom you know nothing?
As for "very white", do you mean very pale? I would say there are other nationalities/ethnicities famous for being glow-in-the-dark white, relatively few of whom make up the American demographic. I am very American, but I am not very white, and I never try to tan. I'm just naturally dark. Most of the people I know are naturally dark. There was one "very white" girl in my class all through elementary and secondary school. She was very nice and beautiful, but she was "very white." Nothing wrong with that.
No offense to Vijay, but native Americans, those who would have evolved in the cold places you describe, are among the darkest people after Indians and Africans.

It might have something to do with the fact that most of us have European ancestors.
Things are changing. I believe that there are at least two states (California and Hawaii) where whites are no longer a majority. Of course, this definition of "white" excludes Hispanics.

see in short in lay mans words where americans stay those areas are very cold and hence there body does not need to protect from the sun heat thats y and thats the reason y africans are exposed more to heat and hence there skin is black thats y u go to beach and go naked to tan or make it black....so its kinda of physics and chemistry is included

It saves on electricity by glowing in the dark.Sometimes I can even turn invisible by being in front of a white painted wall . show me a "brotha" that can do that

actually many americans are dark skinned. television is geared towards white peopl because white people have most of the money. advertisements are geared towards them more than blacks/brown people.
