eat several small balanced "meals" a day
meals should have veggies, fruits, lean meats (chicken, turkey, fish, lean beef), whole grains, low-fat/non-fat dairy (skim milk, 2% cheese)
stay away from--sugars, simple startches (like white breads, white rice, white pasta), fried foods, sodas (both regular and diet), fruit juices (high in sugar), oils (mayo, butter, margarine)
start out slow with the exercise and work up to something harder (i've had friends with asthma that got better with exercise), do some light weight training (if you don't have weights do crunches, squats, lunges, ect)

ok...i think that the best solution to losing weight is exercise, but since you are limited then you have to concentrate more on what is entering your mouth. the food which you should fill about 3/4 of your plate with are vegetables. i know it sounds bad, but vegetables are the healthiest thing you could eat.slow down on fatty meat, and desserts. if you are in need of a snack between meals, take a fruit, or buy some low calorie protein bars which would calm your hunger down. drink a lot of water! about 8 glasses a day is needed, it helps with the diet much more.
and if you can do some exercise, it would greatly help..it doesnt have to be jogging or some other harsh exercise. 30-60 minutes of walking nearly every day would be more than enough along with your healthy diet. dont wrry after a week you would be happy to set foot on those scales! :)

what you can and cant eat are pretty simple , stay away from junk food and anything too oily , try to stick to a lot of vegetables and fruits (berries , apples , etc.) and cut down on the meat slightly (like if you eat usually 3 pieces of chicken thighs at dinner go for 1 1/2 or 2) and snack on like frozen grapes (curves the appetite).
for exercise you can do crunches for about 10 minutes a day twice a day and it really does help out , and you can maybe even go for a walk uphill (doesn't matter if its uphill or not really) , after you get used to walking about 1 or 2 miles a day then maybe you can start jogging a mile a day or every other day. hope this helps :)

Monitor your daily calorie intake and try to reduce it by 500 calories per day. If after the first week the reduction isn't enough, reduce it by a bit more.
Check out sites like www.sparkpeople.com which will give you daily nutrition plans on what to eat, fitness plans. These are all created based on what you set your goals. On the site you can tell it you want to lose x pounds.
Check out sites like www.dietclub.com.au that have fantastic food databases. You can use these to monitor your calorie intakes. The one mentioned has australian products but I'm sure there'll be something for your location. Sparkpeople.com has something similar.

My wife has lost 15 lbs after listening to a hypnosis MP3 she downloaded two weeks ago, and hasn't suffered like those on diets do. She isn't on a diet, nor exercises. forget it lol. i am so indecisive ^_^
well my mom knows a good diet of eating tuna and pineapple together as ur meals. it might not taste good and u might get tired of it but it will take of ALOT if u do it for a whole week. even for 3 days and u might lose 10 pounds. and excercise helps =) good luck! i want to lose about 20 lbs. too

you have gotten many good ansers here so far, all i can add is it take bring in 3500 less calories to lose a pound, so that you need to figure out , excerse will help walking is good i have a tread mill and a total gym . lose all the whites in your diet , white bread potato , rice and all sweets except low cal sweetners, alot of fruit is high sugar content ,watermelon is one of them so get a GI book and it will help alot,, good luck
