My parents are african. They probably heard a lot of myths from witch doctors or something.

I do it all the time too... maybe they are just trying to cut down on the electric bill...lol..

this going to sound redundant but i do it all the time too..my parents say the same thing but i do it anyway.. and i too love the fact i cant hear them calling me all day..but my parents tell me that ideally i shouldn't leave any electrical appliance on because it could supposedly cause a fire..i guess if it shorted out or their was a surge in power or if it fell somehow..theoretically this is true and is one of the causes of many fires but really the chances of that are like 1 in a million

I don't see any reason why it would be bad-maybe your parents just want you to leave your bedroom door open so that they know what your doing?

i do it all the time. the only thing i could see wrong with it is that you can't hear your parents yelling at you in the morning telling you to get out of bed.
