Is it dangerous to shut my bedroom door and leave a fan on?

My parents say its bad.

I figured they were just making things up as usual

My parents are african. They probably heard a lot of myths from witch doctors or something.

I do it all the time too... maybe they are just trying to cut down on the electric bill...lol..

this going to sound redundant but i do it all the time too..my parents say the same thing but i do it anyway.. and i too love the fact i cant hear them calling me all day..but my parents tell me that ideally i shouldn't leave any electrical appliance on because it could supposedly cause a fire..i guess if it shorted out or their was a surge in power or if it fell somehow..theoretically this is true and is one of the causes of many fires but really the chances of that are like 1 in a million

I don't see any reason why it would be bad-maybe your parents just want you to leave your bedroom door open so that they know what your doing?

i do it all the time. the only thing i could see wrong with it is that you can't hear your parents yelling at you in the morning telling you to get out of bed.

I'm sure they say it's bad because they want circulation of all the cool air, so no, its not dangerous.

Probably nothing would happen, but it's your parents' house, so you kinda have to listen.
