It all depends on what caused the original surgery to fail in the first place. What type of surgery did you have? There are four main types of surgery done in the past decade - VBG, RNY, BPD/DS and Lap Band. The VBG can be revised to the RNY or BPD/DS. The RNY can be revised to a more distal RNY (that shortens the common channel and bypasses more intestine) or to a BPD, but not usually to a DS (because there's an issue of your pyloric valve maybe not working after a revision). I don't believe that the BPD/DS is reversible or revisable, but I don't think they were doing them in 1992 either. The LapBand is completely reversible and revisable to any of the surgeries, but not usually effective if you have a lot of weight to lose. My advice? Research all of the options throughly, join the yahoo group ossg-revision, make sure you deal with any food issues before the revision (because that's what caused weight regain in my case, at least), and talk to a lot of people. While a revision may help you lose the weight again, it can also cause some serious nutrition deficiencies.

Gastric Bypass Surgery/gastrectomy/lapband (all types of weight loss /bariatric surgery) is very cheap and safe in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your obesity surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her revision gastric bypass surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare .SHe is more than very happy with the results. She has lost 65lbs in 5 months. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps

How could you have let that happen. I think you should lose the weight this time with diet and exercise. If you are heavy enough to cause damage to your knees, you really have a big eating disorder. See a therapist, and a nutritionist. Good luck!

Go to another doctor, and try and stick to it this time. It isn't worth getting surgery done too many times. It's really hard on your body.

umm...i'm sure it can be done, but from what I understand about the surgery it is even more life-threatening the second time
you need an alternate solution

Can you find a new doctor? I imagine there is a risk if you get it again and gain weight again. Did he say why he would not do it again?

Go to the link below. That place offers a "re-do". Its not cheap, but it can be done

I have heard it would not be necessary. Check with another Doctor though.
