Going to the doctor is important, but until you do, warm up a little cooking oil (just warm, not burning hot) and put a few drops in the ear. Also, keep the ear warm; cold can make it hurt more.
If you don't go to the doctor, you may get a burst eardrum, which hurts MUCH worse! I know, I did it, but won't ever again.

trying putting some sweet oil until he can get to the doctor. Other than that if it's a bad infection nothing really takes the pain away.

Take an analgesic (Tylenol or Motrin). Go to urgent care if you have insurance. Without proper treatment and/or antibiotics, the infection could spread to other parts of your body systems.

put salt in a wool sock and nuke it in the microwave until very warm. take one tylenol and one motrin. but u better go to the e.r. or dr's!!!!
