We want to get married on the beach, and have the reception on the beach- but not sure how to do it. Do you just set up the food and tables before and just have it sitting there during the wedding?(like get married, and then just turn around- and say "okay letd eat"?) Or after wedding do you have guests wait while you se tit up? DO you have tables and chairs on the sand, or let everyone stand? what about music (no music allowed on beach) Do you still "walk down the isle" w/o music. ??? How does this all work what is the etiquitte?

I'm thinking about all the movies and weddings ive been to where the couple runs in the room(where they have the reception) and they say Mr. and Mrs. so- and so and then they eat, toast, dance, do the bouquet, garter, and all that.. how do you do on the beach with no music, or chairs, or anything. Is all that stuff just for religious weddings and not for a beach wedding anyway?????

ALSO- we cant do the reception in a building because the beach is only nearby very expensive restaurants, adn hotels- and we already have a caterer, and a cake- I wish there was a hall, or museaum, or building nearby - just rocks. No grass either.

I live at the beach and see this a lot...it's not all that great the sand is soo annoying and it's so hard for it to be private and away from swim wear. as far as the food being out there without sand getting in it, sea salt from the air, or the annoying sea gulls imposible....try doiing id by a water fall or a very romantic and nice lake or river in the mountains but then again it's what ever you think will be best for you after all it's the best day of your life and good luck!

Talk to your caterer about halls, they should have some ideas about less expensive venues. You might want to set up a tent or something. I'm not sure which beach you're going to be on, but it's not a very practical idea to try and eat with all that sand. You can't let everyone stand around, it's too uncomfortable. If you aren't going to provide tables you better let the women know in advance so they can wear pants. Also, have you seen the commercial on tv where the guy tries to sit on the lawn and falls down and spills his food all over himself, not fun. Plus have you thought about how tables and chairs are going to sink into the sand. Also, if you're doing a sunset ceremony, the bitey nats come out at night, again not fun. A beach ceremony sounds beautiful, but a beach reception seems like it would be very hard to do. Good luck

We provide beach weddings and beach receptions all the time here in Hawaii.
We have a tent set up for the reception, 20'x100', 60'x100' or whatever size is needed for the size of the reception. All the tables and chairs are set up inside, just the same as it would be in a reception hall, dance floor and all.
It doesnt matter if the wedding is inside a church, or on the beach, you can have it the way you want it. If they wont let you have it your way where you are, consider coming to Hawaii to have it.

why don't you compromise and have teh wedding on the beach and the reception in a building nearby. think about all of the stress it is causing you. do you want sand in your food? yes you can still walk down the isle to music. if it a small wedding, like 20 people have them stand(unless grandma and grandpa are there, get chairs for them). just make sure the ceremony isn't forever long if they are standing. bring music for you to walk down the isle with it could be something like a flute player playing for you. best wishes!

My brother just got married on the beach at sunset last weekend, our family lives in Illinois they had it at a hotel, reserved a block of rooms, the reception was in the hotel and everyone had to pay for their rooms, airfare, get time off from work. I just couldn't manage to go, so be considerate of your guests also cuz I feel bad I didn't go.

You can make it even better, you could marry and have the ceremony swimming in the water or even better you could go underwater and have a sharky wedding.

Do you have to go to that beach? Couldn't you go to another beach that fits your needs better?
