I assume that you are talking about the passage in the gospels that has Jesus "denying" his family outside where he was preaching. However, this would not have been considered "unruly" in the ANE's culture, as it was at that time in a Jewish man's life at which he had to "sever the bonds" with his parents and start to become independent. However, it is still disputed whether he was even "denying" them at all!
