When my dog hears a loud noise, she runs up under something and starts breathing very loud and hard. It's scary and I wonder if she will have a heart attack. Its like she's hyperventllating

Take her to a firework show, Either she will become accustom to it or have a heart attack and the problem will be over!!!!

Try positive reinforcement. Slowly introduce her to loud noises, each time you make one or have a friend make one, praise her or give her a treat for not jumping. Eventually she will become accustom to loud noises and not be quite as afraid, although it may not go all the way away.

It is a slow process, but works great, also try building her confidence by petting her under the chin and lifting her nose up, it is the posture of a confident dog, it will be good for her.

You should talk to your vet about this before the 4th. He'll probably give you a slight sedative for her and advise you to play some loud music while the fireworks go off.

Teach your dog to go into a specific room and have soft music playing. This works when there is a thunder storm and he/she needs to find a safe place.

Some dogs are like that. Some get over thier fear, some dont. I suggest a pet syciatrest, but they are really expensive.
