I was unschooled and i could not be happier it takes you away from all the crap of the school system.

I'm somewhat wary of it - I believe just as we require our children to eat their vegetables and be respectful and polite toward others, there are academic things we need to require of them as well. There's no rule that says you have to go completely unschooling - I personally use an eclectic mix of classical, unschooling, and a few others thrown in - depends on the subject and the mood in our home that day.
