The world will end in about 6 billion years.
The sun is constantly getting hotter, about 2 degrees hotter every minute. This means that water is constantly evaporating from earth and some escaping into the universe. When the day comes in 6 billion years, the sun will get so hot that it explodes along with about 10 billion other stars, creating a bright explosion. The energy from all the light will cause too much energy for even the middle of the earth to handle. The earth will catch on fire, and the middle of the earth will get so hot it explodes itself. Then all the pieces of earth will scatter into space until another time millions of billions of years into the future when the particals unite again and mak another planet. This might have happened before, and there might have been many planets in the past that have had the same problem and exploded. Think of all the dead people!! That is my "best answer" that I could give.

The world will end any time:

- When the Sun gets cooled;

- When the earth caves in due to hundreds of Kilometres cavities everywhere, from where coal, oil and other minerals have been extracted through mining;

- When any meteoroid falls on the earth;

- When several tsunami waves hit the world at a time;

- When the whole of the earth is shaken by several earth quakes at a time;

- When oxygen in the air depletes;

- When ozone layer is destroid completely on the atmosphere of the earth and the sun burns the whole creations of the earth.

Like that, there may be several causes, for ending of the world, but no fixed date can be determined. Although according to the Quran of Muslims, the world would have ended in the 13th Hijri (century of the Muslims), but the 13th Hijri has ended but the world is yet surviving.

Earth may end on any certain date, there is a predicted meteor coming to Earth by 2037 that can wipe out the entire life of our beautiful planet. Global Warming is also another possibility, people should walk more instead using their car for short distances. The Sun is the least likely to end our Earth b/c it too far away for anything else to happen before, it's another 5.5 billion years. Well don't worry about try to solve our problems of today.

well from my perspective i think the human race will go extinct way before the demise of the earth and the solar system
the reasons for this could be

i)Killer diseases: that can wipe out entire colonies like the influenza pandemic during WWI. the nearest possible threat could be from a mutatation of the avian influenza virus that could be transmitted from human to human

ii) increased global warming: the increased consumption and depletion of natural resources will result in drastic situation for life on earth as everthing in this planet is interdependent on each other. The rise of global temperatures and the melting of polar ice caps and glaciers will result in increased sea level that may sugmerge all low lying landmass within few years. the depletion of the ozone layer will make the entry of harmful UV rays into our atmosphere easy. all the side effects of global warming will eventually make this planet unfit to support life forms

iii) Nuclear warfare: With the increase competition between some of the world's countries on the basis of military might and strength i do forsee a higher posibility of nuclear arms being used on one and another. This would be the most direct and quickest end to mankind

iv)Astronomical events : the universe we wander about is full of mysteries.
1) One cant be so sure that we will escape the deadly meteor strikes than have wiped out life form on earth on so many previous occasions;
2)the close proximity of a passing solar system may disturb the planetary motion of our fellow planets that may result in change in individual rotational, revolutional and gravitational forces thus leading to a possibility of two planets revolving around the sun in the same axis which increases the chances of colliding with each other
3) Imaginary yet possible alien attacks on our planet
4) the death of the sun when its fuel runs out leading to the state of a red giant than can engulf the entire solar system
5) The HUGE swallowing capacity of deadly BLACK HOLES that can entrap huge solar systems within an area of a peanut
