hopefully heaven. sorry for your losses, but i believe that when a person dies they go to heaven. sure it hurts us here on earth, but at least we can know that they are happy and they aren't suffering anymore and that they will live forever with God. don't worry you will see them again one day.

I believe that the soul hovers above the body looking down at the people there and drifts off. I believe that the soul could also linger here on earth by the place they have the strongest unfinished business with before leaving us to travel to the beyond. My mother pasted away and we can still feel her at home, especially my dad. We think she is keeping him company until it is his time to go. When she visits it's between 3am - 5am and it's like a warm cloud descending on you from the top of your head to the waist. Something like a hug. She rarely makes any noises, but sometimes brushes against you like she is patting your head. I think that Its kind of nice to know this.

The better question to ask would be - is there really that thing called "human soul" before we take the last breath or is that the somekind of fantasy that some guys have - han?
I really don't know. What I know is after taking their last breath people stop functioning.

I beleive its up to the soal. I have talked to several that are content with just hanging around earth for a while, they dont understand that they have moved on. My mom said that when Dad died he sat up in bed and talked to her for a couple of hours and mentioned all the things they did in 57 years of marrige, then he left satisfied.
some had barried money while they were alive and are afraid to leave it behind.
I talked to a lady that said her husband wont go with out her and he just hangs around the house but no one else can see him.

They go to the other side. Most near death experiences were described as beautiful and peaceful.
Someone I know described his experience as looking down at the doctors working to save him.
Psychics often say that those they communicated with are O.K.

that's a freaking good question. It just came to my mind, combining a book of methaphysics with an article i just read, that some sort of what we call heaven is another dimention. Like a parallel world.
Oh, have you seen the movie "contact" with Jodie foster? also has something about this, i recommend you to watch it.

Into the unknown my dear, Purgitory until they are needed for another life...We are recycled just like everything else, we are energy that makes up and animates these clunky bodies...We go back to the energy which we were all apart of at the edge of the universe, then we are put back....called back...choose to go back...

lets assume that human's brain a small old computer, and to answer your question, the latest supercomputer is required. human wont be able to understand /comprehend such life, life after death, God... the size of our brain, is extremely meaningless compared to the size of this universe, cannot compute such issue.
