Okay I'm pulling a Bill OReilly here, my questions are no-spin only.
Somebody answered my Mormon question by saying Joseph Smith was actually British.
He so was not. I've researched Mormonism, and nowhere have I ever read Smith lived in England. He lived in NEW England, but always in America. He was an uneducated farmer from New York...
So am I wrong about posting this, should I have handled it differently?

I usually always catch religious people advocating a slanted view as spinning the truth.

Here's how it work. You qoute a good solid scripture and then point a finger at behavior in their church and here's what you get:

A big grin or smile, followed by a "well."

At that point in time, I know I'm about to be waist deep in ca-ca poo-poo.

If you go to www.familysearch.org and search for Joseph Smith, 1805 birthdate in Vermont you will discover that he was born in Sharon, Vermont on December 23, 1805. By clicking on his father's name you will find that he was born in Mass., as was his father, as was his father, and as was his father. Once one comes to Robert Smith, then you will find that he was born in Kirton, England. So his great, great, great grandfather was English.

It would appear to me after that many generations he was indeed American, not English, although definitely descended therefrom.

The Truth hurts sometimes, it's not wrong but may be offensive to many Mormons

Yes, you are wrong, because New York is not part of New England. As for the rest of it, I couldn't care less.
