I had my 4 wisdom teeth extracted a week and a half ago. I noticed today that I have no more stiches and the location where my left lower wisdom tooth used to be at, the skin is not fully covered and it is slightly open.

After ten days, it's quite fine if the stitches came out or dissolved. Seven days is PLENTY. Some doctors even take them out after five days. It is not always necessary that the hole be completely closed. In fact, if the tooth was partially erupted (showing in your mouth before it was removed), it's probably not supposed to be closed. The question is whether or not there is still a blood clot down inside. Even if there was a blood clot, by just looking in the mirror, you couldn't really tell at home. Since pain from a dry socket usually is evident by the 4th or 5th day, my GUESS is that you do not have a dry socket and you have nothing to worry about. Just give a good swish after meals and before bed ot be sure that nothing is stuck in the slight opening that would hinder further healing. It will take about another 3 weeks before you feel like it's completely healed and everything looks normal. If it wasn't after midnight on a Saturday before a major holiday, I'd suggest that you have your dentist look at this, but I suspect you are just looking for reassurance. My final answer: If there is no pain, you are fine. Just keep it clean.

The socket where your tooth used to be is healing from the inside to the outside. After a certain number of days, the stitches dissolve. That usually means they've been in long enough. Don't worry about the loose skin; it will fall off when the socket is fully healed.

Four wisdom teeth...thats amazing, never heard of it. Maybe the stiches were the ones that dissolve. Go and see your dentist.

when my ex had her wisdom teeth removed, she had "dissapearing stitches", they dissolved over time

personally i had my stitches removed and it really really hurt
and u better be careful about it cuz after i got them removed, one of the sockets wasnt fully covered either, and i accidentally got some food in it and my cheek swelled up enormously, and i had to go back to the dr. to take the stuck food out, and that hurt even MORE than the stitches removal, i was twitching in pain :S (not trying to scare u here *blush*)
