When people visit she (a golden retriever - 6 months) jumps all over them. We are trying to break her of this habit. Today we took her down to the Canada Day celebrations to see how she would be in a crowd and she was so perfect. Didn't try to jump on anyone.

Doggy wasn't trying to protect her home turf - she was the stranger among the big dogs, so her behavior reflected that.

What's a Canada day? do they do that to remind you where you live, eh?

Cheers!

It's because she's not on her own turf. And also I bet whenever people came into the house when she was younger any visitors would fawn over her and get her excited so she learned to jump up on them. You need to keep a leash on her when people come over and have her sit right as they come in. Have the visitor ignore her for a few minutes until she can settle down and only then can they calmly say hi.

well, maybe she is just more excited when people visit because maybe they come over a lot and they like the people.....or they are like humans and probably like complany around. then when introduced to a crowd, acts normal and probably a little scared because of so many people.....but thats just what i think. hope that helps :)
