It must be that f*ckin DRM! Next time just get it from a site that doesn't DRM their music tracks. Try searching for what you want on allofmp3 or limewire.

This problem rests on the file extension of the download!
Any file, not just music, have different extensions, for example...you can have a Microsoft Word document, which will have the extension .doc and in a Notepad file it will be .txt.
This rule applies to all files and there are many. So, following this, there are different programs to open different files. Some proggys can open a number of different file-types, but if at some point the proggy fails, it may either not be compatible or may just need extra software to help it.
This rule is also frequently found with music and video files. The response from the media-player is usually a codec problem and may try to find to codec(s) needed to play the file from the web.

Most importantly, if the file-type is in a format that your MP3 player does not support, you need to convert the music files to a format which the player does support.

Search the web for tools/proggies to do this.

Is it an MP3 track? You might have to convert it to MP3 using the software that came with your MP3 player.
