I am not looking for opinions on who is right or who is wrong or if this divorce is ok with God or not. I am looking for scriptures for wisdom, encouragement, and comfort for the pastor, his kids, and the church.
They have 5 children. They had been having marital problems for 10 years. There was no adultery or physical abuse, but a lot of heated conflict. She feels like she is doing what God wants and that it is for the best. He doesn't want the divorce. It is somewhat affecting the morale of the church. The elders have decided to allow him to continue to be the pastor.

Dear fellow friend of God, I would look for a beautiful card and perhaps on quartered, colored index cards write some of the following verses and give it to him:

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.Philip. 4:7

Psalm 37:5-7 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Phi. 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Phi. 4:11-13 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Phi. 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Mat. 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

May God bless you for your caring, compassionare nature.

Well I am the man that has been with the pastor's wife over the past two years and helped her to file for this divorce. The pastor is not the saint that you to think he is. You say there was no physical abuse but he has been very verbally abusive to her.

I am the only man that really appreciates her for who she is. Now finally we can get on with our lives. God wants it this way. The pastor can go on with his life and his ministry and his little trysts with the housewifes in the back office and she won't be hurt by it anymore. We don't care about the Pastor at all anymore and we will find ourselves a new church.

We have prayed about this and we know that God is on our side.

THOU SHALL NOT COVET THY NEIGHBOURS WIFE that goes for you buddy and please if you are serious about religion forget being a protestant reason your pastor is getting divorced in the true word Merrige is sacred and is not to be taken as a joke where you can divorse when ever you feel like it and get married as many times as you want.

Surely a pastor would know where to look in the Bible for encouragement.

ok first of all divorce is sin, so is a lie, fornication, murder, hateful thoughts need i go on.

so what do we do with sin, put it under the cross and go on with the life God has given us.

If you truly study out Jesus's refrences to sin in the Gospels the conclusion of the matter is "All have sinned......Jesus paid the price for all sin...whats left is not our moral failure (sin) but rather our faithfulness to Christ's doctrine (do we believe him and do we challenge anything that contradicts His clear teachings)

I believe that is what we all will be judged on because if we are judged according to our sins Christ died in vain

Just a thought

1Cor 15:58Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Ga 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

I like Isaiah 49:15- it reminds you that though your family might turn away from you, God's love is omnipresent.

"Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee."

10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. (10:34-36)
I came not to send peace, but a sword. ... A man's foes shall be they of his own household."
Jesus came not to bring peace but to destroy families by making family members hate each other.
Is Jesus peaceful?

10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

12:51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: "Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division."
Jesus did not come to bring peace, but division.
Is Jesus peaceful?
12:52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.(12:52-53)
"The father shall be divided against the son."
Jesus prophesies that families will be divided because of him and his teachings. Sadly, this is one prophecy that has been fulfilled.
12:53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
