theres not one best medication for anxiety and depression. you basically have to test the waters with medications to see which one suits you best. all different medications act differently with people's bodies, so whats right for one person may not be right for you. there are specific medications for anxiety and depression, not just depression.

Only a psychiatrist can help you find the best medication for your symptoms, BUT, be sure to find out the side effects of the drugs he suggests, some can be just as devastating as your depression and anxiety. Also find out what happens when it is time to stop the drugs, for instance, does the dosage have to be reduced gradually to prevent withdrawal symptoms? I'm sure there is something out there that will help you, just be very careful. Good luck.

You REALLY want to know? Okay. As a retired mental health practitioner and director, I can recall a conversation I had with the visiting psychiatrist who came to our clinic weekly. He said that if his clients suffering from anxiety and depression went for a walk about 4 or 5 times a week, both symptoms would disappear. He said all they need to do is go for a walk with no chore like walking the dog or going to the store attached to it. He said to start out slowly and relaxedly until your arms and legs moved with more ease, and as that occured, he said to pick up the pace to make your heart and lungs work a bit harder, and then slow down before you reach your stopping place like home, so that your body can go through a "cool down" period and can avoid the possibility of cramps. The funniest thing happened then. He saw a worried look on my face, and then he said, "Oh, don't worry. They won't do it and we'll never be out of business." I laughed because he knew what my young professional mind was thinking. He said, "They won't follow that walking recommendation because it's free and it doesn't require the 'status' of seeing a doctor, getting a prescription, and it doesn't cost anything, and they actually want to pay high prices for the cure." You know the funniest thing? HE WAS RIGHT!! Our clients preferred prescription for addictive sedatives with side effects. Oh well, the choice is yours. The psychiatrist would love to know I was still passing on his recommendations he made to this once young mental health practitioner. God Bless you.

The best medicine is reflection within. With anxiety identify what it is that you are anxious about, what do you fear, what are your fears. Then list the ones you have control over .. the ability to actually do something about and then also identify the things you don't have control over. Same with depression, what depresses you the most and identify what demons you have most control over and least control over. Once you identify those then dedicate yourself and concentrate on the ones you have most control over for those are the most likely you can change and achieve victories over. The ones that you have least control over forget about and try and ignore them. As you find success and victories you build confidence and one day you'll be strong enough to face those you have no or little control over. Also realize that there are others that actually do care about you and are with you and want you to succeed. go see a doctor, you are obviously an idiot if you use a bulletin board for medical advice.

Most common 2 classes are either SSRIs (Selective serotonin reuptake inhubiotrs) or TCAs (Tricyclic antidepressants). Common first line antidepressants in adults would be an SSRI eg. prozac.

Also go outside, exercise and stopping playing on the internet. Excessive internet useage has an association with depression.

Relaxing and realizing that whatever you are going through does have an end.

Someone once told me that life is like a ferris wheel. When you are in a state of euphoria, we are up on the ferris wheel, and it feels wonderful to be on top of the world. But, the ferris wheel does come down. This event can be related to the downtimes of our lives, but just as the ferris wheel doesn't stay up for long, we have to remind ourselves that it does not stay down for too long either.

Go out and find yourself. Push yourself consciously to have fun and enjoy yourself. Take control of your life. Don't let anything, even depression or other illness to dictate what you want to do in life.

I understand that it is easier said than done, but believe me, it is possible.

So, what are you waiting for.. Go out and have fun and enjoy life.

There is no one single medication that works for everyone. You have to find a doctor that knows a lot about psychiatric medication and work with her/him to find the one that works best for you. Everyone responds differently to medication. You might even have to try several of them, to find the best one for you.

Laughter and a mirror.
Also, I find any national geographic showing how most of the world actually lives also helps get me out of my deluded sad state.

It's hard to be so depressed and anxious when you live in filth in some third world ghetto...

Go out more often and socialise yourself with more friends. Have say morning jogs to enjoy the fresh air, enjoy chatting with some friends over coffee in a relax environment.
