Surfer's Paradise is actually a must do in itself! Definitely hit the Reef (obviously)... stop by Kelly's underwater museum thing, Sydney - Opera House, and just the city in general, must go to the sulfur springs, Ayer's rock (take your bug spray), sunshine plantation, any petting zoo, ask if any Mayan villages are in your area or within driving limits, might as well hop a jet to New Zealand if you're making the trip all the way out there...Have Fun, stay at least 3 weeks or don't bother going!

You MUST try to eat a vegemite sandwich. Just a small scrape with alot of butter or margarine.

You MUST eat a meat pie with sauce.

On the Gold Coast, it's best just to go with the flow. The flow goes to the theme parks, it also goes to the beaches and the mountains. It's an interesting place, lots of fun and you will have a BLAST.

Just one thing, don't expect to see animals in Surfers. It's a big town.

You can see animals at Dream World Animal park, or take a bus to Australia Zoo (run by Steve Irwin & family - CRIKEY!)

Have fun.

You cant go to Australia without checking out the underwater life. It is like nothing else on earth. From Surfers Paradise it is not far to one of the diving Meccas of Down Under, Byron Bay.

Check out http://www.underwater.com.au/local_info.php/location/byron_bay for more info, stories, photos etc ..

Visit the Taronga zoo since it is in Australia where you can find kangaroos and other marsupials. Then visit the Opera House which the main landmark of Australia. The Harbour Bridge is just nearby and you can climb it to have a panoramic view of Sydney.

If you are staying at Surfers [QLD] , you would want to visit all the theme parks. Movie World, Sea World, Wet and Wild and Dreamworld. Personally I would also visit Melbourne, ' The most liveable city in the WORLD'.

Flush the toilet. The water spins in the opposite direction than it does in the Northern Hemisphere, honest!

Oh and go see Ayers Rock and The Sidney Opera House.
