I think this is what you are looking for:
Malachi 2:16 "I hate divorce," says the Lord GOD of Israel, "and I hate a man's covering himself with violence as well as with his garment," says the Lord Almighty.
So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith.
Commentary says:
God hates divorce, for it is a sin that is contrary to his intention for marriage-a permanent, lifelong, exclusive union. Yet he allowed, and even regulated, divorce in the Old Testament (though only because of human stubbornness.)
In the New Testament, while strongly reaffirming the ideal of a permanent covenant relationship, Jesus recognized the hardness of the human heart and the devastating impact of sin within human relationships, and he permitted divorce in cases of marital unfaithfulness. Paul allowed for divorce in a mixed marriage if the unbeliever abandons the covenant relationship; some maintain this passage permits desertion as a legitimate basis for divorce. Those who are divorced, even through their own adultry, can receive comfort in knowing that in GOD's amazing grace he will reach out to forgive those who confess their sin.
Their are other scriptures: Mt 1:19, Mt 5:31-32, Mt 19:3-8, Mk 10:2 &4, Mk 10:11-12, I Cor 7:11-27, Lev 21:7-13, Nu 30:9, Dt 24:4, 1 Ch 8:8, Lk 16:18, Jer 3:1,Eze 44:22.
May GOD Bless you!

"Give unto Man what is Man's and Give Unto God What is God's"
There are many reasons in society to get a legal divorce, such as credit rating, not being responsible for the debts of the other one.
I wonder what Jesus would do or say in today's world. In the OLD WORLD, a woman was nothing without a man, unless her parents took her back in. There was reason to keep a man from foresaking her.
Since those reasons no longer apply and since Jesus would have to be open to the fact of wife beaters, children beaters (unless he "cured them" with touch, but he'd have to do that to millions)..
Divorce shouldn't be entered into any more "lightly" than marriage.
Usually divorce is given more dry, rational though than marriage!
They both need to except the fact of free will and if this act puts the mark of the beast upon both of them, it is by free will and neither should question or grimmce should God and Jesus be Orthodox and their names are not in the book of life. I'm not saying this is a certainy, I'm saying, they better face the fact that God may not think better of this than someone who "fornicates" with a condom, in this day and age of safe sex in which the bodly fluids are not exchanged and there is no skin to skin contact, like there used to be. Does the fact of condoms now make Fornication no less a sin, as there are close to 500 citiations in the bible against it! They ARE giving into Satan's temptations to put asunder what God has created and blessed.
If they can live with that, anyone else should be able to live with that.
We are not supposed to judge. That is God's job. May he find forgiveness for what they do, because he and he alone knows the true reasons.

I believe one of the main reasons God hates divorce because of the pain it causes to everyone involved. I think that if your pastor had truly tried to work the marriage out and wants to stay married, then he is faultless in this situation. More than anything right now, his family needs constant prayers. It may not be reuniting a family, but bringing peace and goodness out of a sad situation. I love James in situations like these.

I myself, am looking at Divorce , My marriage has been a rocky road for about the last 12 years, It has taken my health on a very bumpy road. Have been in and out of the hospital well over 10 times, We have a son together now 23 years, He has been on a rocky road for years It has messed with him sooooooooo bad. I don't know if he will pull though to marry himself. I am a mother of a very tore up son that get to me day in and day out. Still cry each and every day.I moved out of the house and got my own Apt. almost a year now. at this time with it still hitting me in the heart... My health is starting to come back, I am starting to look at a different life. I am on S.S.I. on a very limited income. The doctors are saying I can not go back to work yet. I have a very bad Infection in my knee from a knee replacement< at this time I have NO knee there waiting on the knee to come clean of this infection. looking at another year before they can put a knee back in...this is all water under the bridge.
My thinking to to go ahead on with a Divorce, I need to heal and get back on my feet, If I knew 10 years ago, what I would be looking at NOW. I would have divorce back then... when Our son was a little younger I think at 12 years old. he would make it up hill and have a much different life to this day. By the way my husband is a very BAD DRUNK> He has never hit me or done any kind of ADULTERY>>> that I know I know of<<<<<. Nor have I ... I don't think it was in God's Heart and eyes to live on this much of a rocky road. or have the children go though so much and see heated conflict. You didn't say how old the children is...
So Now I say to open your eyes and take a close look at the children. { RIGHT IN THE EYES } open your heart to the children and this family, and say a pray to the LORD ABOVE HEAVEN ON EARTH while we remain here. and ask just what is JUSTIFICATION their is for DIVORCE ? ? ? Give this family your love, and let them Know you are here for them...! ! !
Give these children a warm hug they are the ones that really needs this................
I No { GOD } don't want noneof us family's to be unhappy.
So now what is is { ??? JUSTIFICATION ??? }
Think all this over before you put someone down again..........
What is your morale, in your Church ? A Church can be in a empty Field, or just you by your~self as long as ~WE~ believe
~There is a time to embrace ~
LOVE AND HATE CAN RUN SO CLOSE
MAY < GOD> BLESS THIS FAMILY
MY HEART BELONG TO GOD ABOVE <
also, To my : SON
MAY THE LORD ABOVE BLESS US ALL !
~PLEASE, SAY A PRAYER FOR OUR SON~ BLESS MY SON ~ FOR WE DON"T DIE OF A BROKEN HEART
as long as we know God above...

IF.... Both are honest followers of the Christian faith.... and... there is none of what yousay there is none of... then they can not divorce in God's eyes.... period... and the pastor could not remain in the pulpet...I would have to know for sure who did what to who.... But short of violence and adultry.... no way. If you are in a "christian" church... you know this already.... and for sure your elders do.... they should be out of office as wlll.....
IF IT IS AS YOU REPORT....... they are bound by Ephesians 5:22-33

None of this makes any sense to me. And, you want to look in a 2,000 year-old book of fables for an answer? You might as well look in Aesop's fables or an ephemeris.
Which do you prefer the Old Testiment or the New Testiment?
Here's some more confusion
