In some of these answers I read "Atheist" , "Sinner", etc. You said nothing indicating that you are either. Questioning authority is not wrong. I trust that if Jesus comes to carry you and I away from this terrible strife-ridden place called Earth, we'll be welcome with open arms.

No one from any other religion has ever done anything that was horrible in the name of religion? People from all religions take things out of context, misconstrue them, and twist them so that they can justify some cause or another. That doesn't make it right. It was wrong, it shouldn't have happened, but it did because PEOPLE as a whole are largely ignorant in groups and tend to follow the leader, and unfortunately no one is perfect, not even, sometimes especially not, Christians.

Who said the Catholics Church was Christian? True believers were not involved in the crusaders, they were the victims. The Catholic Church was trying to do away with all that opposed their doctrine like the worshiping of saints, baptizing babies, worshiping Mary and the Pope having more authority than the scripture.

Jesus Christ, the sone of God, came to earth to teach us about how to love eachother. He did this, dying for us so if we believe in Him, we can have eternal life. Those who believe in Him are "Christians".

The Crusanders' rapes and pillages was aweful and in no way was "Christ-like" or "Christian". I can't explain why they would do that other than they were very wrong and they'll be judged for it. God is just.

Some people believe that just because they're "Christians" what they do is right. This not the case. A true Christian is someone who believes that Jesus died for their sins, that they're not perfect and then they choose to follow God. I think the Crusaders were greatly disturbed people-- not necessarily Christians.

It was all about having things their way. The Catholic Church raised the Crusader's Armies and pointed them at Muslims, when they couldn't find the Muslims, they slaughtered Jews and minor Christian sects. It wasn't the fault of individual Catholics, but more the Catholic leadership. Church members are sheep who will do whatever the leadership says.

christians are not honest with people. and what about the witchhunts, the current persecution of gays and witches? the attack on Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims? What about the christians not respecting other religions simply because they are different? what about christians brandishing each other as not a true christian just to put the other christian down? WHat about the Dark Ages the IRA, Cromwells reign of terror and the Holocaust? christianity has never been about love and peace despite its admonitions to the contrary.

and to all you that say look to jesus and not people here is the icing on the cake

10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. (10:34-36)
I came not to send peace, but a sword. ... A man's foes shall be they of his own household."
Jesus came not to bring peace but to destroy families by making family members hate each other.
Is Jesus peaceful?

12:51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: "Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division."
Jesus did not come to bring peace, but division.
Is Jesus peaceful?

12:52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.(12:52-53)
"The father shall be divided against the son."
Jesus prophesies that families will be divided because of him and his teachings. Sadly, this is one prophecy that has been fulfilled.
12:53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

if by 'christianity', you mean the following of Christ's teachings, then the crusades had nothing to do with it...the crusades were a creation of ignorant and evil men-don't confuse Christ's teachings with the foolish and malicious acts of those who pretend they are acting in His name-whether they are some "religious leader" telling his flock that it's okay to kill, plunder, and enslave "in the name of Christ", or some nut protesting at the funeral for a fallen service member.

Simple enough to answer that one... the crusades were not Christian and Not God's Will... Look what happened to them that did it....

God's Word can not be spread at the point of a sword... No one can be compeled to come to God. God Call's... it is up to the individual to answer... no man dictates the relationship of one of the Christian Faith to God

Perhaps you should consider that most of the crusaders were convicted criminals who were given a "get out of jail free" card if they fought.

in short - all men are fallible, just because someone says he is a christian does not mean he is a christian. also, just because someone is a christian does not mean everything he does is right

do some extensive research on the crusades if you desire the truth behind them
