I wonder if passing a law to ban flag burning could be considered idolatry. I mean making it a sacred object that should not be damaged or improperly destroyed - does that elevate it to a level where it would be considered and idol?

Peace!

even wearing a cross is idolatry...i mean people say prayers with it, its on the top of churches, on alters...etc...

well with the things around your house there is a difference between symbolism and idolatry. if you arent like...putting it on such a pedestal then it really isnt...but putting pictures of a certain person and it having more honor than a bible or something i guess could be....ive never really thought about it before.

I agree completely. idolatry isn't all just bowing in front a big gold statue. anything that is more important to you than your relationship with God, that thing has become your god.
it could be a career, the pursiut of fame and wealth, fashion, a sexual relationship with someone who is bad news. anything.

Its a matter of not allowing things to become Idols!

It's human nature to LOVE nice things, but TRUE CHRISTIANS are supposed to remember that we are ONLY PASSING THROUGH!

It is only an idol if you bow down and worship it as a god.
