Almost every time I sit in a plane after landing, 75% of the people around me flip open their phones and start yapping away. It'd be one thing if they were lining up their ride home, but almost invariably they're saying something like "Yeah, we just landed. No, we're on the tarmac. No, the TARMAC. Yeah. Yeah. No, I just wanted to tell you where I was. I'll just give you a call when I get home." Couldn't this be saved for at least their walk over to baggage claim?

I can't speak for those people (and most people who use cell phones in public do so because they think others will look at them and think, "Oh, they're popular -- they're using a cell phone"), but just yesterday when I landed and we were taxi-ing in to the gate, I pulled out my phone and started talking. The reason? My good friend is in the hospital, and I was calling his wife to check his status. I was wanting to know if I needed to prepare myself for the funeral. But I agree with you that the needless chatter on cell phones immediately after landing is certainly tiresome.

I think that most people just want to let their loved ones know that they arrived safely. If you have family tavel without you, you probably understand how it can be a little uneasy until you know that they are safe.

Yes, they could wait a little longer. But most people are in a rush, the airport is busy, they have transfers to meet up with, baggage to claim, hotels to check into, etc. So they just want to get something done while they are waiting and can't do anything else.

Most of the time they call to let to let those picking them up or ones back home that they made it or they're there. This way the people back home know their same or their ride can meet them somewhere (most often the luggage claim). Especially since you can't use yourphone while landing, or else they call saying their landing.

People back home want to know when I land safely...so it's easier to do it when I first land, then I can deal with baggage claim without a phone in my ear!

whats up, I artwork for a important airline, and that i used to be a flight attendant. the respond is sure. while you're sitting on the airplane, waiting to push back from the gate, you're able to communicate on your telephone. as quickly because of the fact the flight attendant closes the cabin door, then you certainly ought to turn it off. once you have taken off, and reached an altitude of 10,000 feet, they'll make an fact asserting for you to use all approved transportable electronics. maximum airways have a seat back magazine that tells what electronics are approved. cellular telephones are approved while you're in "airplane mode." meaning your telephone won't deliver or attempt to get carry of a sign. this is completely high quality to apply it, even nonetheless, just to take heed to three Mp3's. merely be careful of once you're in very final descent as you will ought to stowe all electronics for landing. the 2d the airplane touches the runway, you're allowed as quickly as back to apply your cellular telephones to make your mind up. Have a secure flight.

well some people get worried when they arent checked in with. it would depend on the person. but sometimes, when you get in the airport you dont have service with some carriers, so its better to do it when you do have service. and people know the exact time you land, and if you dont call them at that time they freak out and think something bad happened

Because ******* are mostly impulsive people whom don't care about the people around them. They are selfish bores with nothing of importance to actually talk about, just idle chatter... They are just BURNIN' UP to flip open that phone and talk about nuthin'. . . Those are the same people you see at the grocery store check out line, yappin away on their celly while the cashier and everyone else around them is giving them the GAS FACE! Yup! same people you see trying to manuever their MONSTER TRUCK through a bad intersection; one hand wrestlingn with the steering wheel and the other with a cell phone next to their ear. great; you got it! same dunces in the movie theatre with the absolutely most idiotic childish cell phone ringtone going off. . . I get the strongest urge to snatch their phone, throw it on the ground and smash it with my heel, and yell out to the smashed up phone "CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW!!" ha ha!! fools. . .

Possibly it could wait, but maybe a loved one asked them to call when they had safely landed.

I view them as idiots. Some probably want to impress other people, some...I have no clue what they are thinking. They act like they are all way important...like a group of brain surgeons. Just too pitiful for words.
