What i mean is this, i took my daughter to centre island today (amusement park) and we are standing in line, this woman 2 people ahead of me, suddenly has 4 kids dart past us into her space. Now of course I got ticked off....was I wrong, or is that rude, I told her that she could not hold a space for 4 kids when we were waiting in line for over 15 minutes as it was, and the line was huge...do you not think they should have been at the back of the line? ( my daughter is 5.)

apparently it is ok that my 5 year old had to stand there patiently, whereas i could have just stood in her place and allowed her and her friends to butt in line...sure.....

I get your point, I have always considered this to be rude, but what can you do, especially when your around children. But your daughter learned a good lesson from you on how to deal with this type situation. You had every right to be irritated. Other than this unfortunate event, I hope you and your little one had a great time.

I do think that's rude. Can you imagine if every single person in line ahead of you suddenly had 4 friends they were "holding" a place for? You would never get through the line that way if everyone felt they were entitled to allow friends to cut ahead of others who had been waiting politely for their turn.

Unfortunately that kind of thing happens all the time at amusement parks and other places. And sometimes people do have to leave their place in line to run to the bathroom, or if they have unruly children with them, they may have to leave to keep them occupied doing something other than waiting.

I did that many times as a child, though, because I just would get too bored to stand still in line for 15-30 minutes at an amusement park. So if it was a bunch of adults and not children then it would've been a different story.

um, if the kids were with her and she was already going to pay for their tickets, then no. Most kids won't wait in line, so when their buyer is almost close to the enterance or what not they comeout of nowhere to stand by them. There is nothing wrong with that. If that's what happened.

i could see it if maybe they had been waiting in line and one of the kids had to use the bathroom, it happens. but certainly not holding a place for 4 other people, even if they are kids.

on the contrary....i think it denotes good will and education in relation for the ppl he is holding place for...it may be rude if the line is for an event that can take hours to get into or maybe on a restaurant like mc donalds in moscow or a crowded place

I'd say now. what if it was a really long line, for an hour or more. and halfway there, your youngest says, "I have to pee."
would you go back to the end of the line, or would you send a group of kids to the bathroom together?

I personally don't think so. But that's just me. Holding for kids is cool. Adults on the other hand....they would only dart once. ;-)

Yes it is very rude and unfair to anyone waiting in line.
