I was going to ask this one myself today, and now you reminded me. :)

But I do like to help clarify things for people. When you say pick up line, you have to specify what your intention is. Are you looking for sex or a relationship? Do you want a phone number or take take someone out of the club and go to a more intimate setting?

These things are very basic parts of human existance and they don't change much in 2 years, and probably not much in 2 thousand years.

Women say you should not use a pick-up line, but you should just introduce yourself. I think there is some truth to this, and some untruth. If you have a funny personality then you should try to say something funny, that's the best way to start a conversation in my opinion. Just introducing yourself works, but definitely lacks some pizazz. The most important thing to remember is once eye contact is made, don't hesitate. Move in quickly, but not anxiously or too abruptly in a way that will scare her.

If there is a lot of chemistry and you both know you want to tear eachother's clothes off, then the rule of less is more will win the day. Say as little as possible, and sometimes you can just pull her out or there without even saying a word.

So in conclusion I would say it's more important what you do when you encounter a woman, and not what you say. More food for thought and hopefully some useful tidbits of advice.

If you're talking about "pick up" in a bar or some other anonymous social gathering, don't do it. Just be friendly and sociable. See what happens. If you're talking about asking someone out that you know and like, having a couple of tickets to a sporting event or a "gift certificate" to a restaurant is a good ruse. Just make sure they know you are included in the invite and not that you are handing them the tickets. (OK, that happened on an episode of Friends--to Rachel)

Just ask the lady if she would like to go on a date with you.Pick up lines are immature and most women don't think to much of men who use them.Be up front and honest.Ask her like a gentlemen.
