My father has smoked for many many MANY years (he smokes a couple packs a day. He drinks EVERYDAY! He is 66 years old. He will not quit drinking or smoking. He won't go to the doctors either. His face has been swelling up alot lately. It has been swelling up for a couple years now but a lot more often now. It's not his whole face that swells up at a time just parts of it at a time. He's been says that he feels dizzy every once in a while, he feels tired (he sleeps alot). I've been trying to find good wbsites to figure out what this might be but am not finding any results. I'm trying to get him to go to the doctors but I have a feeling that i'm not going to be able to get him to go :(

With a history of major drinking it could be either liver problems or kidney problems either would cause high blood pressure. There are many places to have your blood pressure taken for nothing. One of the easiest ways is to talk him into trying to give some blood. They will take his blood pressure and other measurements and will advise him to see a doctor when they turn him down. Maybe if he hears it from somebody in a white suit he will listen. Any of the symptoms you describe can result in sudden death.

Either a tumor might be evident, or qite simply he's having an allergic reaction to something. I'd go with the latter but you can never be truly sure.

ver well could be heart failure...check his legs right now and push your finger down on his foot and ankles...if it sinks in and stays, then that is called pitting adema (spelling?)...also have some blood work done as well....check his thyroid...the thyroid is more dangerous than what people know...
but check the swelling if any,in his ankles, then go see a er doctor immediately...could be a minnie stroke as well

No one on this website is equipped to diagnose such a problem.

It's too bad your dad has chosen a slow form of suicide, but that is his choice and there isn't a lot you can do about it.
