Yes, you save your pictures on a Cd - preferably a Kodiak - its
the best one out there and they have a a prorgam called "Easyshare" it's software that lets you also email your
photos - it's cool, I use it all the time.

It's only $2.99 here to copy my prints off my card to a CD - you
get an album from walmart that holds CD's and you label it for
your CD pictures, usually when you print to a CD they print out
all the pictures on the CD for you, so you know how many you
have and where they are. I am not sure how many it would hold
but I would guess it depends upon the size of your camera
media. Mine holds 107 pictures, but I have never taken that many - yet! I have the the Kodial CX 7330 - its a beginner's camera - I too, am new to digital, but I have done photography
since I was a teen. I LOVE digital cameras! I love my camera!
It's so cool to go to walmart & use the Kodiak picture Kiosok -
it prints all your pictures for $.28 there at Walmart. Its fast & quick! I use my photos for scrapbooking, so I am always making
pictures off of my old photos & off my camera as well. Don't feel bad! We all have to start somewhere! Get yours saved to a CD
you'll be ok. You'll see. It's better to delete & rid your camera of
all the photos - you can't keep them all! Too much memory is
used. Takes all your battery to keep up. Try this & see if you
like it. Remember - you can always use the kodiak picture maker in walmart if you need reprints. And if you have them on
a CD its better yet, cause they come up on the picturemaker
in the order they were on the camera. So try it! :)

Yes! Save all the pictures you think you might want in the future! Depending on the camera, you can fit many, many full resolution pictures on a CD (it really depends on the camera, and if you edit the pictures after taking them). Digital pictures may be copied as many times as you wish, so you do have something to hang on to even after you print them. I recommend you keep about 3 copies of your pictures at all times: one copy on your computer, and two copies on separate CDs. Replace the CDs every year or so to make sure they don't go bad and make you lose the pictures. If your computer breaks, you can replace the pictures by copying from the CDs. Now, to do all this you will probably need a memory card reader. Inquire about the card reader at your local Best Buy or Radio Shack. Remember to bring your memory card, and ask them questions if you're still confused.

Pictures from a digital camera have to be saved on a hard disk drive, a cd or dvd, a flash drive, a floppy. Saving pics on a cd is a bit iffy, as cd's really don't last as long as you might think - some don't last more than a couple years before starting to degrade [that's cd's you burn yourself]. But you should save your pics in some manner, even on cd, as that does save them for some time. I have a 200 gig external hard disk drive just for the purpose of saving stuff.

If you are running a Window based system--your best bet here is to use the USB input from the camera to your computer and download your photos into your computer hard drive --when you connect up --the camera / scanner wizard should start and walk you through this process---once your photos are on file on your computer--you can do anything you like with the images on your memory card and you still have the photos on file

It really depends on how big your images are.

One CD-R can contain 700MB of files, so if, say, your photos are about 1MB u can put about 600+ images. And if it's less than that, you can put much more pictures in it.

Yea, do backup. =)

EDIT: don't use DVDs. It kinda degrades after a while and all ur files would be gone.

Most burner programs tell you how much space is on a cd that your burning too. Most CD's hold 700mb of data. so depending on your memory card size, you might be able to get all of your pictures onto a CD. Your memory card will say how much data it holds on it. So if your using a 256mb card, you can get roughly 3 cards worth of data on to 1 CD. Or if your card is 512mb, you can get 1 and a half cards worth of pictures onto 1 CD. If your use CD-RW's (CD-ReWritable) to burn your pictures onto, you can burn some pictures, and then later burn more pictures onto the CD-RW. I hope this helps.

Sometimes when you go develop your pictures you can ask for a back up CD with all your pictures, like at Wal-Mart.

I burn them to a DVD-R (7.4G) by category, then date. I keep the disks in a fireproof safe and another set with a trusted relative.
