My girlfriend has comdition where she often passes out. Her doctor's working on her case, but in the mean time I want to know what to do if she passes out. Like how do I get her to come-to faster? And how should I comfort her when she does come-to? (She often wakes up very dizzy, and more tired then before) Any suggestions would help me! Thanks!

If it is just cases of passing out then lay her on her back but if seizures acompany it then lay her on her left side but do not hold her down just clear her out a spce untill the seizing stops and DO NOT PUT ANYTHING IN HER MOUTH!!! Putting something in her mouth to stop her from swallowing her tounge could cause her to break the object and swallow it causing further problems. To wake her faster sometimes gentle stroking of the cheeks work, amonia inhalers are very effective, and a good ol' sturnum rub should do the trick (but could be painful so you have to weigh the possiblity of her being mad when she wakes). Comforting is a whole other matter it could differ from person to person. What ever you do just give her enough room to catch her breath when she comes to. Be sure to loosen any restrictive clothing and and elevate the feet. After coming to give her water but just sips not alot at one time.

Ok, I'm not kidding when I say this. Call 911.

Since her doctor doesn't know what it is yet, it's best to consider this a life threating situation each and every time she passes out until the doctor says otherwise. This is for safety's sake. When the paramedics arrive, they have little sticks of ammonia that they can use to attempt to bring her out of it. It is best that you let the paramedics try to bring her out of it. Not knowing her condition yet, you may inadvertently cause more harm than good by trying to bring her out of it, using a (fill in the blank) method.

What I'm about to say is pure speculation, but this sounds like bouts of diabetes, when her sugars too low. I'm get that way when my sugar bottoms out. You might want to consider carrying around a candy bar in your purse, and when she feels light headed or dizzy, hand her the candy bar. DO NOT give her a candy bar with nuts or Carmel in it. This has a potential to block the airway if she does pass out. Consider a straight milk chocolate bar like a Hersey's Chocolate bar.

I wish you and your friend the best of luck, and I hope her condition isn't anything long term or too serious.

Well, the best thing to do is to let it run it's course....don't touch her until she comes to. Never try to interfere. Time it and if it lasts more than a few minutes call an ambulance. Have a tylenol, glass of water, pillow, blanket if needed ready for her.....do anything you can think of to make her more comfotable but let her stay lying down where she is until she feels much better. Get her anything she likes and asks for and just keep staying by her side through the Doctor appts. and such. You're an awesome boyfriend to do this kind of stuff! Cheers to you!

Call an ambulance if she is passed out because she might need medical attention, such as oxygen. Although most people who pass out will come to on their own in a little bit but be on the safe side and call for help. I don't know what her problem is but you may want to take a course in CPR so you would be qualified to help her if you have to.

I would make sure her head is on a pillow for comfort and have some water near by in case she is thirsty. Wish I had a better answer hope the dr. comes up with something soon for her.

me my son and my sister all have a seizure disorder we usally just have theme and let whoever it is happening to come to on there own but if you think she is out of it to long you can get a warm wash cloth and dab it in house hold ammonia and flash it under her nose she will come to faster and as far as comforting her try holding her and talking to her that is what my husband does for me

simply put, you must attend to the brain, cusion it with a pillow or coat/jacket. Wrap her with something insulating like a blanket. After that all you can do is wait until she comes to, when she does make sure she drinks something (not alcohol!). Besides that you can't do much else.

Wave something with a strong odor under her nose, like a cut onion. Make sure she doesn't swallow her tongue, she could choke. See the red cross web site for more info.
