Usually people cuss as a means of expressing just how strongly they feel about something. Almost everyone cusses at one point or another. Best damn thing is to know when the hell you can cuss and when the hell it is not appropriate. ****, one has to use their freaking common sense. I never cuss in front of my mother, she doesn't stand for that ****, I can tell you that. And I'm 48 freaking years old!

Cussing unfortunately has become a norm for the expression of feelings and the degree to which the individual is feeling. I don't think it's stupid as much I as would consider it unnecessary most of the time.

People cuss because their mind has been seared to the difference between right and wrong. It is sinful and disrespectful to cuss. The taking of the Lord's name in vain is breaking the 3rd Commandment. When we do this we are guilty before a Holy and Just God.

You only need to understand that words have weight. Some are stronger than others for conveying a certain feeling or emotion. Used judiciously, swear words can be quite effective in communication.

While cussing is stupid, most people do it to express themselves, the words are pretty vulgar and descriptive and it lets you know the level they are on.usually level 0 because it sounds so stupid

If someone was brought up around parents that did it, or allowed to watch TV which had it on 24 hours a day, even on public stations now.

If no one took the time to guide them regarding right or wrong way to talk to others then by default, that is the habit they will form, and continue to speak, unless someone they know and trust has a heart to heart with them.

my 4th grade teacher told us that people cuss because they don't have a broad enough vocabulary to express the way they really feel

Because there are shorter words that can express your anger, frustration ,love, etc, in shorter words and more intensely.

Other than being stupid it´s a reflex.

freedom of speech

cursing lets us describe emotions that other words do not.

cursing lets us show solidarity with other people (You would not curse with your boss, but you do with your friends to show you are "one of the gang")

And it it ludicris to say "cursing limits the vocabulary". So you want me to cut words out of my vocabulary so it is not limited? Get a grip.

Cursing is an expansion of the vocabulary that shows the range of human speech. it can be an art form.
