Cancun, Mexico........ it has some of the best beaches in the Caribbean and many many great hotels, restaurants, and things to do. ALL of the hotels in Cancun are ocean front and for a few dollars more you can be sure to get an ocean view room. Its cheaper and quicker than flying to Hawaii. Aruba also has great beaches, but not as many other activities and sights to see and it takes longer to get there since its in the southern Caribbean.
You will need a passport for any travel outside the US starting January 1, 2007, so apply now: http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html
Things are cheaper in Mexico because the exchange rate is about 5 pesos for 1 US dollar.

How about Phuket in Thailand? There are many beachfront hotels and resorts there and you can get one at your budget. The water and beach will be beautiful. I can assure you. Nearby are more districts with great beaches and resorts as well. You can go island hoping too. Check out the hotels/resorts on www.asiarooms.com and see what I mean. You can email me at tongbn@yahoo.co.uk if you want more suggestions on what you can do there too.
Congrats in advance and wish you both happy hols.

Check out St.Petersburg, FL. It is voted the best beach in Florida, in January it should be in the seventies at least, and you have the clear waters of the Gulf on the oceanfront. If money situation is better, I would suggest Key West.

You can try the carribean, and it's a good time to go since the weather is nice and its at the end of the hurricane season...St. Kitts and Nevis or the Virgin Islands are excellent getaways, and you can find a good deal with http://www.travelocity.com . I've seen hotel suites for about $120 a night since it's in the off-season. Good luck!

I reckon you would possibly want to pass someplace alongside the great Ocean highway. Lorne or Apollo Bay are fantastic. and the Mornington Peninsula is incredibly on the point of Melb and there are extremely fantastic beaches there
